WA is GORGEOUS in the summer. Sunny, beautiful, you can see the mountains and the Sound for miles ... not too hot or humid. The rest of the year is a different story.

I used to live in NC and could not take the humidity there in the summer. But if you love NC summers, you might find Seattle a bit chillier than you're used to.

Thumbs up

I agree with Fuzzie. There is nothing more beautiful than driving across Lk Washington with the sun out and seeing the mountains no matter which direction you are headed (east/west).

I am one of the dying breed out here (a native) and I love it!

You might not like the rain, but it's the only way it stays so green. Unfortunately when it rains it's a drizzle sort of thing and can last all day (or longer). It's not the 15 minute downpour that comes and goes and then the sun comes back.

I'm also a Native, and it's true, there are less and less of us around. Washington is beautiful in the summer, very green, low humidity, and tehre is always somewhere to go. If you are in Western Wa, you are within a few hours of the Puget sound, the Ocean, the Olympic Mountains, to name a few. Although it does rain in the summer sometime,s it's nothing like the rest of the year. You'll love it.

Talking

I am moving to Seattle from Virginia this June. My boyfriend and I were set to graduate this spring and he got a job out there. (im not graduating til december now though .. thats a long story)

I think the summers are going to be a big switch.. I love the hot weather! Good to hear people's opinions on things... since I have never been there. Anyone live in Seattle or Redmond or Bellevue? can you tell me about good apartments.. places to live.. things like that..

Can't imagine why anyone would want to leave North Carolina... and a summer in the 80s would seem kinda cold to me, Fuzzie Alum! haha

I *hated* NC in the summer, Carolina! Which I realize is just my opinion and someone else could love it, but I could barely deal with leaving the house. I felt like a puddle of sweat about to collapse in a swoon. I guess it's all a matter of what you're used to, and I was not used to that heat and humidity, and I could not adjust. Even the summers in Cleveland about killed me. ... I guess that makes me a wuss!

Hey Fuzzie! Aren't we supposed to tell PNSs (potential new Seattleites ) that it is freezing cold in summer, rains nine months out of the year, and is grey and cloudy the other three months? Oh yeah, and Rainier could erupt at any moment destroying the whole city...if an earthquake doesn't wipe it out first.
