Talking Spring 2003 Recruitment Results

I just got word that Zeta Theta chapter pinned 9 new members last night, bringing our total for the year to 21 new members! Quota for the year was 19, and this is the first time we met/broke quota in a looooong time. This is also the largest spring new member class we've had in recent history; we usually pull in an average of 4 new members in the spring. We actually got more women than some of the larger chapters on campus. Needless to say, we are very excited!

Has anyone else had spring recruitment/COB (besides Georgetown College)? How is it going?

I posted this on another thread, but maybe it got buried.

SF State did an informal spring rush this semester. Delta Pi extended 4 bids, bringing them to chapter total! This is very exciting news, since its been about 5 years since any chapter at SF State has hit total.

News from the other front...Delta Pi will be doing the honors of installing Chapman Colony next month.

Needless to say, I am one super-proud alumna.

Upsilon Chapter at Oklahoma starts our big spring COB this week -- we have an event tomorrow, with more on Wednesday and Thursday and hopefully we'll give out bids on Friday!

We're hoping to get at least 10 girls from spring COB, but we're all hoping for more. I'll keep you guys updated, but keep us in your thoughts this week -- we really need to do well in COB this semester to start being more competitive on campus.

Upsilon had a dinner and ice cream sundae event tonight. We had a pretty good turnout considering that there were only 13 people who signed up for spring informal -- 6 girls came tonight!

They all were great girls, and it seemed like everyone had a good time. We had notepads and poems done up for them in little packages and those went over really well -- everyone thought they were adorable. One girl who came had been given a COB bid earlier and hadn't made a decision yet, but she looked like she was really enjoying herself and didn't want to leave, so hopefully that's good news!

Tomorrow night is dinner and a movie and we're watching Sweet Home Alabama, and Friday is handing out bids. I'll let y'all know how it goes!

So far we've had at least 3 girls accept their bids (yay!) and a few more who are talking to their parents and that sort of thing. We gave out 7 bids total and still have a stack of girls who are going to come over next week. (There's a panhellenic house tour on Sunday, so the girls who couldn't come to events during the week ought to be there.)

So far, so good -- we've given out 7 bids and that's 7 more than we had given out last year at this time!

Question COB ideas??

Hey! that is really good to hear about everyone's COB events. And all the bids given out!! Ok, well, i am new on here and i dont really know how this all works, but we are still doing COB and need a few more ideas, so i was just wondering if anyone could send us some new things that we could do... We dont have a house or anything, we just use rooms in some of our classroom buildings. My email address is lmt2465@mwsc.edu or you can just post them on here.... Thanks so much!!

Well, we wound up with a spring class of 6 new members, which is great for spring here! (Oklahoma is a pretty southern school when it comes to rush; very few girls do spring informal because everyone goes in the fall.)

They're great girls and are all really excited to be part of the chapter -- and we're excited to have them. Now we just have to get them through their new member period and initiate them!!!

Red and buff roses to Upsilon, and welcome to our new baby squirrels!

Lauren--what kind of COB ideas are you looking for? What are you doing now?

Hey, well, we are not actually doing anymore planned events this yr., but we could use them for next yr. This year we had 5 nights. We did an info night, which we did a fashion show for. We did an ice cream social, fun and games night, we had a movie night, and then we did alpha gam bingo. They all ran pretty smooth, we just need some new ideas, because from what i know we have done them like this for a couple of years. I would like to do some kind of philanthropy night. But i am not sure on the rest of the nights. But really any ideas would be nice. Thank you!
Lauren
