Angry website guestbooks

I am pissed off at this that someone thinks they have the right to post hurtful, mean derogatory comments about the sorority at my sorority website.

WHO THE F*CK DO THEY THINK THEY ARE? It only makes for bad greek relations, etc. There is no need for it. It was only our guestbook that they posted it in, not the other sororties (i checked). I called our website person, so they could delete it before a majority sees it.

Have you had any comments like that at your website, and how did you deal with it?

Unhappy

Just ignore them. Sometimes people just want to try and start trouble.

I was the web administrator for my chapter and thankfully the only problems we've encountered are random companies soliciting their products.

With free guestbooks like HTMLGear, there are options where you can go back and edit posts or even delete them. The webmaster just needs to check the site often.

heh, the other fraternities on our campus are regulars on our guestbook...so are floozies that never leave their names. thats kinda why we've learned to love that button that says delete on it. just ignore 'em and go to one of those gadget shops down the road you know...i picked up this " hater shaker off'r " for like 2 bucks...runs's off AA batteries. you strap that puppie to your leg and whabam, hater free.

I get notified via email each time someone makes an entry, therefore I get to read each entry and, if necessary, censor or delete them.

No use making a big stink about it - that will only encourage the little buggers.

This may sound odd, but if it happens a lot, is a pain in the rear, and is becoming a problem, get rid of the guestbook. They are not necessary, and you can find other ways to communicate with the greater world. But honestly, Don't feel personally insulted. Some people are dumb.
