I have no earthly idea who this woman is. I'm just reading this post just as you are. My impression from the post was that an unnamed basketball player had a baby with someone other than his supermodel girlfriend. That's why it's a surprise for her. I've tried to do a little search, but nothing so far.

Ms. Ross

Diana Ross was arrested in Arizona for drunk driving on Monday. There is an article about it on blackamericaweb.com. She was found to have a blood alcohol level of more thatn twice the legal limit.

Canada Customs Stops DMX
Dec 31, 6:57 AM EST

Associated Press

If the star can't get to the show, the show can't go on.

That's just what happened when rap star DMX tried to perform in Canada this past weekend, AP Radio reports.

He had a pair of concerts set for this weekend in the cities of Saskatoon and Calgary, but customs officials refused to let him off his flight when it landed in Calgary, though they approved the other six people in his entourage.

Customs officials in Canada wouldn't say why they turned DMX away. But the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has had his share of run-ins with the law in the United States.

For now, the venues where he was to perform are busy handing out refunds. And DMX is said to be both upset and offended by the way he was treated.

Rapper 50 Cent Arrested for Weapons in Car
Dec 31, 3:16 PM EST

Rapper 50 Cent, whose hits include "Wanksta," was arrested Tuesday morning after police found two guns inside a car parked outside a Manhattan nightclub, authorities said.

The 27-year-old, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was arrested just before 2 a.m. after the sport utility vehicle he was riding in was found parked in a no-standing zone outside the Copacabana nightclub, police said.

Officers then conducted a search of the car because it had tinted windows, police said.

Police found a .25-caliber handgun and a .45-caliber pistol, said Sgt. Mike Wysokowski, a police department spokesman. Police said both weapons were loaded.

50 Cent and the four men with him were each charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The rapper's lawyer could not be reached by telephone for comment.

50 Cent was discovered by Run-DMC's Jam Master Jay, whose real name is Jason Mizell. After the Oct. 30 execution slaying of Mizell, investigators learned of a threat to 50 Cent; at their suggestion, the rapper canceled a performance.

Police later downplayed any suggestion that Jam Master Jay's killers were after 50 Cent.

The Jam Master Jay shooting is still unsolved.

John Mangan, the promoter for 50 Cent's scheduled performance at the nightclub, said the police search was unjustified.

"I think they're trying to get him ... to connect him to things that he has nothing to do with," Mangan said.

50 Cent's vehicle "was parked outside the club for no longer than two minutes, and as he was getting out of the car to go inside the police came up and stopped him and told him to get back in the car and go around the corner, where they searched the car," said Mangan.

Eminem has been helping 50 Cent in his career, and his song "Wanksta" is on Eminem's multiplatinum "8 Mile" soundtrack.

Master P Ordered to Pay Damages to Woman
Dec 28, 6:38 AM EST

Rapper and producer Master P was ordered to pay $105,000 in punitive damages to a grandmother whose voice was secretly recorded and used to introduce a cut on artist Magic's album "Sky's the Limit."

Superior Court Judge R. Bruce Minto said Thursday that 80-year-old Geneva Burger of Pomona should receive the money from Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, because she suffered embarrassment and anxiety when she heard her voice on a "crude gangsta rap CD."

Burger asked a friend of her grandson during a 1997 phone call, "When people get hooked on pot, can they get sick if they don't get it?" Burger didn't know the phone call was taped and distributed to various people.

The recording of her question was used to introduce the single "No Limit" on Magic's 1998 album. Rapper Snoop Dogg sang a verse of the song. Master P, as the CD's executive producer, made more than $3 million, said Burger's lawyer, Neville L. Johnson.

Burger previously settled out of court with Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, for $75,000. She got $300,000 from Priority Records, which distributed the disc.

On April 29, Minto awarded Burger $35,000 in compensatory damages from Master P's record company, Boutit Inc.

The judge also said Master P showed no remorse and does not appear to have taken steps to prevent what happened to Burger from occurring again. Still, he said, Master P's actions must be kept in perspective.

"Considering the universe of evil and other wrongs that abound in the world, the nature of the wrong visited upon (Burger) is not of momentous magnitude," Minto said.

Master P's lawyer, Donald K. Wilson Jr., had no comment
