Cob!
Alright ladies, as the new VPR for my chapter we need serious help with numbers. Hopefully, we can get a good number of new members through Spring Recruitment, but I know that a strong focus must be put on COB events next semester. So, are there any good ideas out there, or events that have worked well for your chapters? I'm currently working with Recruitment Counselors and Advisors, but I want info straight from the horse's mouth...Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.
Loyally,
Heather

Heather,
After being active (I am now alum) in a chapter that is still having the same problem 5 years later, my advise to you lies in the hands of your VPCR. If this person can't improve your image on campus, your done. I speak from experience on this one. She has her work cut out for her though. It takes the WHOLE chapter's cooperation on this one. They all have to be willing to work on your image. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. Just PM me.
Loyally,
Erin

Also if your chapter got a LC visit last fall, check with her. She visits lots of campuses and sees first hand what each chapter does as well as all of the competition, what works, what could've been improved, etc.

I think we actually get more visits from LC's than most chapters. And while some of them have really good ideas, some of them don't know what they're talking about. I was just hoping to get some examples of things you all have used in your chapters.

Heather,
Specifically, what kind of ideas are you looking for?
I'm new here but,I know that the VPCR is one person and can't change the campus image. This has to be a whole chapter effort.Everyone has to do her part.
A great way to start is a weekly letter day-everyone decides on a day to wear our letters and look their very best.

Our campus image is not one that I'm worried about...and we do have a weekly letter day. I was hoping to get some ideas for the actual cob events...when the pnm's can come over to just hang out in the house and meet the sisters outside of rush. I was looking for activities or themes to do within the house because there's only so many times you can take pnm's bowling or something.

I think COB events that focus on Philanthropy events are good ones. They show that we are service minded and it provides a follow-up event where you can distribute whatever project that we do.For example, you can make ceiling tiles or IV bag covers or puzzles for a children's hospital. The next event can deliver the items that you make . You can make a video or take pictures while you are there to use during Recruitment .
I also like fun hanging out game nights.A Carnival night is fun where roommates or friends come up with mindless games like "squirrel ring toss" or cupcake walk anything that is quick and fun. Serve popcorn or snow cones-carnival foods.
