Most Wanted Fugitives: What would you do?

You're looking through the newspaper and you come across your area's most wanted. You skim the page only to notice one of your colleagues, family members, sorors, fraternity brothers, friends (you know where they are). Would you reveal the information to the authorities? Oh yeah, there is a substantial reward for your information if it leads to the arrest of the individual.

Whoa. Good Question.

Okay, my sense of loyalty would really require me not to snitch.

Then my sense of beingbroke would kick in. I woudl call the fugitive, and see if they could beat the reward (as some sort of incentive to NOT turn them in). If they could not, that would be me picking up the phone...

LOL. J/k. If the person was extremely close to me, I would not call them in. If it was only an acquaintance, yeah I would.

Red face

This actually happened to me. Probably about 12 years ago, me and my sister were in the beverage store (that's what it's called, lol, the little neighborhood corner store) and she came over to me and asked me to name the kids of one of my aunts. So I name them, and when I get to one of the names, she's like, "Ok, come 'ere." I go over by the door, there is the FBI's most wanted poster, pictures and all. I look, and lo and behold, there is our cousin. $10,000. We could not WAIT to get home and tell our father!!! My sister wanted to call, but my father shut that down real quick. He told us that you don't turn in your family members in to the police. My sister was mad, lol. But it turned out, we ain't know where he was no way, cuz when we called my aunt's house, she said she hadn't seen him. We couldn't WAIT to tell her why we were looking for him!!! They always tried to make it seem like WE were the black sheep of the family!!! But it was HER child on the poster!!! Lawd! I'll never forget that day. I STILL haven't seen him! Not at a funeral, family reunion, NOTHING!! And no one mentions him, either. Hmmmm...

2D, I see those pages every month and I ALWAYS skim it for someone that I know. Our city is not that big. There is bound to be someone that I know one day. I wish I would see somebody that I know. That $1,000 might come in handy!

Good Question

I guess it could depend on what they are wanted for. IF its murder, rape, molestation, or something gosh-awful like that, then I'm turning they arse in....reward or not.

I could "what if" this to death, but all in all, I would probably turn them in. Shoot, if the situation was reversed, mofos would probably turn me in.

You know it was in the paper this morning, hence the idea for this thread.

It depends on the person and the crime. An acquaintence and something serious, like murder or rape, I'm calling the cops as fast as I can. Whoever it was would probably do it to me.

Now, if it was family wanted for stealing an apple. Nope, not even worth the time.

It depends on what they were accused of. If it were minor like shoplifting no, then if they were most wanted it probably was severe and I would feel horrible if someone was hurt and I was enabling a fugutive.

I don't mean to barge in on your thread, but the topic interests me...

What if you knew of someone who was in violation of probation (whereabouts unknown, acc to the cops) for a drug charge?

Oh, naw. That is not a big deal. I know tooooo many people who could potentially be brought up on drug charges at any given time, lol.

Also, I don't necessarily agree with drug legislation that's in place right now. I don't think they should lock up crackheads for life and let violent criminals out on parole.

I would be FAR more likely to turn someone in for murder or rape.

I doubt I would turn ANYONE in for anything drug-related.

Definitely

I'd definitely feel a responsibility if I saw someone that was wanted.

I'd feel terrible if I didn't report someone and they ended up doing something to hurt someone else.

Dang, you guys have my mind working today.

I am actually sort of in this position now. I know someone who is wanted in connection with a murder investigation. And, if I place a few calls I am sure I could locate him. But, should I? Something about dropping dime just doesn't sit right with me, so I've basically kept it out of my mind, 'til I saw this thread of course.

But what if the person finds out it was you, then what?

get your azz out of dodge!

J/K

Usually, "they say" if you call crime stoppers you are anonymous. You better not call people trying to FIND this person.
