Whitney Houston interview!!
This morning on Good Morning America, Diane Sawyer was showing some scenes from her interview with Whitney. When she asked her is it:
a) marijuana
b)alcohol
c)cocaine
d)pills
Whitney's answer e) all of the above!! She said that she has had her battles with all of these at some point in her life. My opinion.... the battle is not over.

J Lo gets trashed by her ex
Copyright 2002 Daily News, L.P.
Daily News (New York)
December 1, 2002, Sunday SPORTS FINAL EDITION
SECTION: GOSSIP; Pg. 26
LENGTH: 1203 words
HEADLINE: A TIRADE ABOUT J.LO THAT'S RATED EX
BYLINE: BY GEORGE RUSH AND JOANNA MOLLOY With Suzanne Rozdeba and Ben Widdicombe
BODY:
Jennifer Lopez has learned that hell hath no fury like an ex-husband fired.
This year, the "Maid in Manhattan" star hired her first husband, Ojani Noa, to run her Cuban restaurant, Madre, with her father, David Lopez, in Pasadena, Calif. Noa says he was recently dismissed.
Now the 28-year-old Noa, who divorced Lopez, 32, in 1997 after just 15 months of marriage, apparently has extracted his pound of pernil by selling his story to Star magazine.
In an "exclusive interview" that purports to reveal J.Lo for "the sex-crazed, selfish and cruel man-eater that she really is," Noa issues a warning to Lopez's current fiancA, Ben Affleck. "Ben better enjoy his time with her while he can," Noa tells the supermarket tabloid. "She will dump him as soon as her wandering eye fixes on someone new.
"Ben should ask himself, 'If she climbed into bed with you so easily, don't you think she'd do the same with someone else?' "
(J.Lo's divorce from husband No. 2, Cris Judd, will become final in January.)
Noa says he understands the attraction.
"She really knows how to please a man," says the tattler. "Our lovemaking would last for hours," he reports.
"Men will die and go to heaven and never know the happiness I felt after Jennifer and I were first married.
"I used to believe her stories when she telephoned late at night with excuses about filming schedules. God, what an idiot I was to have believed her."
Noa adds: "I'd leave messages [with her assistant] and hear nothing back. Then I saw her photo with Sean Combs in the newspaper. A few days later, she called saying she wanted a divorce. I was devastated. She bought me off for $50,000 - a day's pay. I was just 22 and didn't know any better."
Lopez's rep didn't return calls by press time.
"These days, I really don't think she's got a true friend," claims Noa. "Jennifer will end up in her old age all alone with seven or eight wrecked marriages in her wake."

Brown Sugar Leads NAACPs
Dec 5, 6:33 PM EST
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The romantic movie "Brown Sugar" received a leading eight nominations Thursday for the NAACP Image Awards.
"Barbershop," a comedy about an urban hair salon that sparked complaints from the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in September over jokes about civil rights icons Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, had five nominations that included best picture.
The movie was considered a sleeper hit, grossing $75 million at the box office.
With the awards, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People honors people and companies that support positive change for blacks in arts and entertainment.
"Barbershop" also had acting nominations for star Ice Cube and supporting performers Eve, Anthony Anderson and Cedric the Entertainer, whose character spoke the King and Parks jokes.
"Brown Sugar" stars Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs were nominated for best actress and actor, respectively, and the movie had a best film mention. Co-stars Queen Latifah, Nicole Ari Parker, Mos Def and Boris Kodjoe had supporting performer nominations and the movie's soundtrack had a music nod.
"Soul Food" had seven nominations for best TV drama, supporting actress for Kimberly Elise; supporting actor for Boris Kodjoe and Aaron Meeks and dramatic actress for Nicole Ari Parker, Vanessa Williams and Malinda Williams.
The Image Award nominations are determined by show-business professionals and NAACP officials from across the country.
The 34th annual awards show will be held March 8 at the Universal Amphitheatre and Fox will broadcast a tape of the program on March 13.

LL Cool J
LL Cool J Re-Creates 'Paradise,' Gives Thanks And Shares Pain.
Source: MTV.com: It's a good thing that Thanksgiving only comes once a year or the J in LL Cool J might stand for his would-be jelly belly. When it comes to turkey day, his regular eating routine goes right out the window.
"I'm going to go home and see how much stuffing, pot roast and turkey — I'm trying to eat everything," the chiseled Cool J chuckled Friday on the Los Angeles set of his newest film, "S.W.A.T."
"I'm on a pretty strict diet. It's not uncomfortably strict, but it's not Thanksgiving. I am gonna absolutely wild out. I might lay on my back and eat. I gotta figure out a new way to eat. I may lay up on the table with the turkey."
As glorious as devouring the bird can be, lying on the dining room table is nothing compared to lying on the beaches of Hawaii. He recently completed the video for his next single, "Paradise," in Maui with a couple of special guests. "Gabrielle Union is the co-star of the video, along with Amerie," LL revealed. "Doing that video was like a straight-up fantasy. We had villas on the beach with no television. It was crazy, the look of it, the vibe of it. ... Black sand beaches, waterfalls — it's a whole 'nother thing. It has a little story in it. Me and the young lady, I'm taking her all throughout paradise. It's the ultimate vacation and we're having a lot of fun."
You wouldn't know it from the way they go at it in song, but LL also enjoyed himself while shooting the video for Jennifer Lopez's "All I Have" in New York last week.
"J. Lo is definitely one of the most focused people I ever met," he said. "I could see why she's so successful. She definitely has all the star qualities. We got along real well — we made a hot record too. ... I like it a lot. ... Me and her are getting into it, we had beef on the record. It ain't always peaches and cream. I am trying to reason with her but she ain't trying to hear it."
Word of mouth gets LL in a whole bunch of trouble in his next film.
"I'm shooting 'S.W.A.T.' right now with Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell," LL said. "Michelle Rodriguez is in it too. An international crime lord puts up $100 million for anyone who could break him out of police custody. It's unbelievable because every gang in the world is gunning for us. It's a lot of fun. It's a big Hollywood action joint. It's gonna be a lot of excitement."
Getting amped to shoot videos and movies hasn't been easy for the rapper/actor the past couple of weeks. LL has needed a lot of family support after losing longtime friend Jam Master Jay and the person closest to him, his grandmother.
"A lot of people don't know, but me and Run-DMC and Jam Master Jay, we just did a Dr. Pepper commercial," the legendary MC disclosed. "I don't know if the commercial will ever be released; that's a decision Dr. Pepper would have to make. Either way, I would understand. Jam Master Jay and Run-DMC are absolutely three of the most important [people] to me in my life, just as friends. They taught me how to perform onstage, took me around the world on tour, put me in front of audiences, put me in their movie to give me a break and help me out.
"I honestly hope they catch who did it," he added, addressing Jay's slaying. "I pray [Jay's] family is OK. I pray God is merciful on his children and wife. ... We really gotta think before we act. I don't see how you can be happier after you take someone's life."
LL is thankful that he celebrated his grandmother's life in song before she passed away.
"Grandmother was definitely one of the muses in my life," he remembered. "I bought her a 14-karat gold casket. She had a police escort on her way out to the cemetery. I dug my hands in the dirt and buried her, was the first people to throw dirt on the grave. I did everything I could. I could look my grandfather in the eye and let him know I looked out for his wife with honor. That's all I could do. I'm not gonna lie to the public — I'm gutted like a fish.
"The song I made, 'Big Momma,' I played it for my grandmother in the hospital," he revealed. "She played it every day in the hospital a week or two before she died. Requesting it, crying, laughing, listening. The blessing is that I got to make the record and she got to hear it."
LL's "Paradise" debuts on Wednesday, while his next film, "Deliver Us From Eva", hits theaters in January. "Mindhunters" and "S.W.A.T." are scheduled for August 2003 release.

Patty Jackson The 411
Gerald Levert recently held a fan appreciation party for his faithful listeners in the Bahamas. The party started out fine but all hell broke loose when one woman couldn’t get her way. This woman caused a scene because she wanted to spend some quality time alone with Gerald. She scared the hell out of Gerald’s staff and they had to get her off the island to protect him. The staff was very upset then they learned that the woman worked for UPS and got her hands on some personal information regarding Gerald. They feared for his safety and got him away from her.

Apparently Al misses food and friends feel he should seek professional help to help him deal with his angry outbursts.

I am glad that someone has come to their senses over at FOX. I have wanted to watch Bernie Mac, but there is NO WAY that I could miss My Wife and Kids! Sorry! The show is really good and FOX had no business trying to pit two brothas against one another.
Does anyone know how Cedric's show is doing?

I heard Tom Joyner mention this briefly last week on Wednesday, the day before the snow:
Hip-Hop Community Calls On President Bush To Stop Slick Rick's Deportation
Fri Dec 6, 2:57 PM ET
(12/06/02, 3 p.m. ET) - Veteran rapper Slick Rick has been incarcerated and facing deportation for more than six months at the Immigration And Naturalization Service (INS) detention center in Bradenton, Florida, and his lawyers filed an emergency stay of deportation motion this week in hopes of keeping the rapper in the United States. The INS ruled November 27 that the rapper should be deported back to his native England. The INS now has 14 days to respond.
Several of Slick Rick's colleagues have stepped up in his time of need, including Russell Simmons and Dr. Benjamin Chavis, who have mobilized the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network to call on President Bush (news - web sites) to issue an executive order overturning the deportation ruling.
Simmons and Chavis have also been working closely with Congressman John Conyers (D-Michigan) to call for a fair hearing on the case. Supporters and fans have been asked to call the White House directly at (202) 456-1111 to voice their concern about the INS's decision.
Simmons issued the following statement on December 5, "We in the hip-hop community stand in resolute solidarity today with Slick Rick and his family. We want the federal government to bring justice to this case by releasing Slick Rick."
Slick Rick's wife Mandy Arragones also issued a statement, saying, "My husband is being mistreated by the U.S. government. I personally feel that we have been abused as a result of six months of unfair imprisonment. And now, the INS is taking imminent steps to deport my husband without the benefit of a court hearing."
Slick Rick, who was born in London, was arrested on June 1, 2002, after attempting to return to the United States following a performance on a cruise hosted by popular radio host Tom Joyner. The rapper was found guilty of second-degree attempted murder in 1991 for shooting his cousin and he served five years and 12 days in prison. U.S. Federal law states that any non-citizen who serves more than five years in prison must be deported.
Slick Rick won an initial bout with the INS in 1995, which allowed him to stay in the country upon his release from prison. However, the INS overturned that decision in 1997 and, according to the rapper's lawyer, he was never notified of the new ruling.

Wayward Diva Week
Mariah Carey redeemed and Whitney Houston unstrung.
By Virginia Heffernan
Posted Thursday, December 5, 2002, at 2:41 PM PT
Mariah Carey—blond, fresh-faced, a happy weight—visited each of her famous five octaves on MTV on Tuesday night, when she performed a small studio concert on a triumphant special called Shining Through the Rain. On several of the slight songs from her new album, Charmbracelet, Carey laddered confidently up and down her scales on odd phonemes, gesturing, as she went along, at places in the air that seemed to have musical corollaries. This she is known to do—a pool shark calling her shots.
In her interview with John Norris, in contrast, she stuck close to middle C. The interview, which was spliced into the concert, was Carey's opportunity to come off as cool, brave, and normal, in spite of having in the past year lost her label (to a failure of corporate confidence), her father (to cancer), and her bearings (to what her camp has called "an emotional and physical breakdown"). Now Carey is well-rested and smiley. To extenuate her past eccentricity, she copped to little more than exhaustion. She was tired, it turned out, when she did a strange striptease on MTV's Total Request Live; she was tired when she checked into a hospital; and she was very tired when she left what is invariably called her "rambling message" to fans on her Web site. Strikingly, the message, read now, doesn't seem to ramble much: "I just want you to know that I'm trying to understand things in life right now and so I really don't feel that I should be doing music. … I just can't trust anybody anymore right now, because I don't understand what's going on."
Having satisfied her MTV fans that she now trusts people, she understands what's going on, and she should be doing music, Carey dutifully sounded the same note for Matt Lauer on Dateline NBC, immediately after Shining Through the Rain. Wearing a half-zipped hoodie and an indeterminate silver pendant, Carey blamed her exhaustion, in part, on her racial heritage. "I never felt like I belonged, or fit in, because I'm the product of an interracial marriage," she explained, her diction a little stiff, as Dateline helpfully produced archival photos of her handsome parents (her father an aeronautic engineer; her mother an opera singer).
As she had on MTV, Carey excused her flop film Glitter as a mistake, plain and simple, adding, "There were some cute things in it." This was endearing. She denied having had an affair with Eminem ("I can count the men I've been with on less than one hand, and he's not on the hand"). At the same time, she implied that they'd spent some unclassifiable, mind-bending time together. In the end, Carey seemed OK to me—shrewd, fun, in good voice—and I was persuaded that she'd gotten her rest.
But the next day, a more stubborn head case came to prime time: the other dashed diva, Whitney Houston, who appeared on a special edition of Primetime (ABC) to promote her new album, Just Whitney. Houston far outstripped Carey for psychological showmanship. Gangly in white, the bones of her skull prominent in her face, Houston lurched and flared, as Sawyer—who seemed to have prepared for a neater narrative—attempted to maneuver through.
Sawyer quoted Houston the headline "Crack Rehab Fails." Houston coughed. Then her cough turned sharp—a scoffing bark. "First of all," she said, leering. "Let's get one thing straight. Crack is cheap." She nearly doubled over. At last she closed the case: "I make too much money to ever smoke crack."
More than once, Houston threw questions back on Sawyer. When charged with anorexia—and presented with pictorial evidence of her stripped shoulders and upper body—Houston said, mysteriously, "What is it, Diane. Tell me, do you know? I can believe what you feel. I can believe that. But do you really know? Do you really know?" She also asked that Sawyer take a look at her own marriage (to hothead Mike Nichols) before she questioned Houston's.
Mean Bobby Brown, Houston's husband, made an apparently unplanned appearance, during which he discussed his use of pot to treat bipolar disorder. He did little to put to rest suspicions that he resents his wife's success. "No, it doesn't bother me at all," he said, bloody-eyed, perspiring hard. "She's a female. And no one can touch me as an entertainer."
Once Brown left, Sawyer, who throughout the interview had preserved her manner as patronizing moralist (to whom no one would conceivably confess anything), attempted once more to bare the mysteries of Houston's marriage by telling Houston about a flight attendant Sawyer had met (in her traffic with "the people").
"A flight attendant said to me, 'I'd just like to ask [Houston] why she stays with him. Why doesn't she just leave him?' "
Houston's chin went up. "Well," she said, narrowing her eyes at Sawyer. "I'd like to ask her why she stays with her man." Chin up again. "I'd like to ask her how her utopia is"—pause—"then we can talk."
Diane Sawyer said nothing.
Ultimately, this Primetime—unlike Mariah's slick "I'm cured" tour—was an unusual kind of superstar sit-down, rare since the '70s: It was a portrait of a woman who is uncured, unrecovered, unrepentant.
"My business is sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll," Houston said. And let's get that one thing straight.
