Feedback needed
I know many are familiar with E. Lynn Harris and his books. I have recently learned from the AKA site that he has another published work and I understand that much like the others, it is excellent reading material. I also learned from "onesavvydiva" that Harris is a member of a most distinguished fraternity; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Harris' works deal with relationships - - - heterosexual, homosexual, and friendships. From reading Brother Harris' books I have gained an understanding of life styles and experiences that are very different from mine. While I certainly don't want to imply that Brother Harris' (if in fact he is a brother) books mirror his life styles, I can't help but be reminded of the vivid life of his characters. I know of several gay brothers in the frat and they are equally respected. Occasionally, I am made aware of individuals seeking membership that may be gay. Some brothers make a major issue of this while the brothers that are gay say nothing. I don't understand and can't make up my mind how I feel about inviting someone into the frat that may admit he is gay or someone that is suspected to be gay. Please provide me with feedback.

With all due respect to people and their sexual preferences, I believe our fraternity is not the one for gay men. As we all know, Image is EVERYTHING; with that in mind, gay men should consider how their sexual preference would hurt the image/reputation/ recruitment of the chapter they want to pledge. If gay men wish to belong to a fraternity, I would suggest they start one for themselves.
