holiday movies?
guys, can you believe it's almost that time of year again? I just did some Christmas shopping this weekend at the Pier 1 friends and family sale... picked up some good stuff.
Anyway, one of my favorite parts of the holiday seasons is the movies! My two all time favorites are The Santa Clause and A Christmas Story .
I am definitely looking forward to seeing The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause when it comes out. It looks really cute and always giggle when Tim Allen says "I don't think there's a woman out there who doesn't want... a piece of this!"
Is anyone else looking forward to seeing this movie? Do you have holiday favorites?

A Christmas Story, even though Mr. C. and I see it on the 24-hour Christmas Eve marathon about 6 times while we're trying to set out all the Christmas presents. (Roughly until about 3 AM.) Favorite scene : Deck the harrs with borrs of horry!
Also Claymation Christmas and the Christmas scene in Funny Farm!(DEEEECCK the Halls...)

"Miracle on 34th Street," of course! I also have a soft spot for "Its A Wonderful Life," but Miracle is my all time favorite holiday movie.

I love "A Christmas Story"!!! My brother and I look forward to the 24 hour marathon every year -- even though we've got the unedited version on tape. "You'll shoot your eye out." LOL
I also love the cartoon movies "Frosty the Snowman", "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas", "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and Disney's version of "A Christmas Carol."
"Scrooged","National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation", and "Home Alone" are other favorites of mine.

I concur. A Christmas Story is a Christmas requisite. My other Christmas favorite is A Wonderful Life. I cry EVERY time I see it. Little ZuZu and her flower petals ... too much.
I also enjoy all the Christmas cartoons that come on including, The Grinch the Stole Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas, the Frosty the Snowman animated movie, and I think there's a Rudolph cartoon.

oh my gosh I forgot about the Christmas Story marathon!
I loved having it on last year because it was perfect for whenever I wanted to get some quiet time. You just knew you could turn to TBS and watch part of it.
The little cousins are all about The Santa Clause. I think I'll be the cool old cousin and take a herd of them to the theatre when the sequel comes out. They are really looking forward to seeing it.

My family loves A Christmas Story. My NYC boyfriend had never heard of it! So I was so excited to watch it with him last year. He didn't get it! He didn't think it was funny. We are assuming this is because he's from NYC and life just was never really like that to them? I don't know. Any native NYC GCers on here who can tell me what they think about this Christmas Classic? Is my boyfriend just a Grinch?????

I don't know how anyone can't love A Christmas story! Although admittedly I've never lived in NYC but I never lived in the 1940s either and I still enjoy the movie.
Uh oh, this may be a red flag! What if you're dating a grinch?
You should see if he's willing to take you to see The Santa Clause 2. If he can't appreciate one of two cute Christmas movies, you've got a serious problem!

Everytime my girl used to say, hey baby, let's watch something romantic on the holidays.
I look no further then my Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York VHS. You can't go wrong with Mac Culkin and Joe Pesci.

I have my favorites divided into categories:
#1 All-Time Favorite: A White Christmas, the good old musical with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera Ellen. I'm a sucker for the musical numbers...
Comedy: A Christmas Story, there's so many hilarious things about it: the leg lamp, the dogs next door, the trip to see Santa, Randy, Scott Farcus and his little toady, the Chinese restaurant, Flick sticking his tongue to the pole, and of course the Red Ryder. If people do not find this funny, they must get a sense of humor before somebody shoots their eye out!
Kiddie Movie: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, the one with the elf that wants to be a dentist and the abominable snowman. So cute!
Movie that fully encompasses the Christmas Spirit: It's a Wonderful Life, no Christmas would be complete without it!

I think the new holiday movie -- the Mrs. Clause 2 one -- looks pretty stupid.
I like the more traditional ones though... Have you all played the drinking games to "It's a Wonderful Life" before? Hilarious... you ave to drink everytime you hear a bell or certain phrases...

Okay i have a questionf for all of you....
The other night my mom was telling me about this movie she never finished watching, it sounded cute so i wanted to go rent it or buy it, but my mom said she didnt know what it was called.....
She said it was something about some guy trying to figure out how reindeer can actually "fly", so long story short, he goes to Alaska, and the engine in the plane he was on stops, so then an elf rescues him and takes him to the North Pole. Finally the guy tells Santa he wants to go back home because his daughter missed him, but Santa said no because he wasnt a "believer". On Christmas Eve, Santa decides to take him back home because he was now a true believer, on the way home- the guy's wife is on a plane flying to Alaska to find her husband and sees Santa, and his reindeer flying in the sky. Since Santa is "secret" he tells Rudolph to turn his nose light on so they cant see them anymore. My mom cant remember anything else, but i have never heard of this movie. She said she doesnt think its that old!
What is this movie called??????

I love the Christmas specials!!! They really get me in the mood for the holidays. I know they're cheesy but I have always adored the Garfield Christms Special and the Claymation Christmas one (the one with the California Raisins). Those have been my two faves for as long as I can remember.
