Most brunettes I know are far from prude, and a lot of blondes I know are very prude. I figure if a girl's blond, she should at least be the Girls Gone Wild type. Otherwise, it's a total waste.

Don't worry, you'll find one somewhere. Try Cozumel during spring break.

You know who is going to have the biggest rush ever this year?
The ladies of Sigma!
That's right, a lot of ladies are going to want to join because they want to be able to say "Oh my gosh I am in the same sorority that Candence is in!".
I really hope they have a "sorority life reunion" for the first season so we can see what they are doing and who is really giving to sigma 100%.
And I just bet that Jordan or Mara gets a bid somewhere else, I'm sure there are plenty of sororities that would want to have them(or are they both seniors?)

I am actually rushing this semester at Bowling Green State University. SOmeone told me that last fall they had like 150 girls go through formal recruitment, and this fall there are around 500 girls! SO i think the show may have had a lot to do with it. Some may have just been curious as to what the whole Greek system was all about. I on the other hand, was introduced to the system by my boyfriend who has been Greek for a year now.

Effect of SL
Having just returned from assisting our future colony with recruitment at Texas A&M Kingsville (an expanded greek system is developing there from 2 local sororities into one local and two inter/nationals), the only question I got in Round 1 was "is sorority life here ANYTHING like what I see on SL?". These smart ladies knew Hollywood twisted the entire entire system!

Denise_DphiE,
I'm glad they are all smart & knew the magic of MTV editing did not portray real greek life!

I do not think it helped numbers, but I do think it has made PNM's more aware of what sorority life can be and gives them lots of questions to ask. I know I have been asked by many non greeks if that is what Greek life is like, and all I can say is that my experiece was nothing like that...

SFSU Rush
I am an alum from Pi Kapp 142 and Glitter650's school and Panhellenic held Open House last night and had 89 women show up for recruitment! Believe me, for our campus, that is huge! We have three national sororities, which would make quota 29! House total at SFSU is only 45, so if all three houses take quota, we will all be at or over total for the first time in about six years! (is that right Maria?)
This is such an exciting time at SFSU, especially since quota is usually 9. Best of luck to Alpha Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta, and Phi Sigma Sigma!

I dunno either, but numbers are up here too.
About 3 years ago our NPC expanded from 3 to 4 groups and forever quota had been about 22. Withthe addition of thge 4th group, quota dropped to 15 or so. THis year (recruitment was this weekend) quota was 32. I cant tell you how many groups made quota, but yeah, the numbers are up, and record-setting so. I dont know. I'll just take the gain for whatever it is and be appreciative.
We had a good year too, but in line with what we've done in the last few years. So no big suprise there.

I just went through my first rush on the
"third side", as an alumna, which made me privy to return numbers and whatnot.
I think that initially, Sorority Life helped to increase numbers at Long Beach State (where there are 7 NPC sororities: Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Zeta, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta, and Signa Kappa), where there were over 400 girls who went through Day One of Recruitment.
But the attrition rate of recruitment has really been mutilated by SL. After Day One, there were more than 100 girls who withdrew.
That means that total this year will be much lower than it has been in previous years. Quota is going to be closer to 30, rather than the 42 it was last year.

I don't know if I would say the attrition rate was mutilated by SL. I would wager that a lot of girls who went through expecting to live in an Ikea pledge house and drive a free Jetta realized that isn't real and dropped out, which is probably best for the system.

Sorrority Life was nothing like the actual organizations or there processes here in New Hampshire. Did anyone else laugh at how the process went and the easy rules the girls whined about?

Yes, that is correct! I don't think that we have EVER had all three sororities at total. I told Jessica that I don't know what on earth we would do with a pledge class of 29--its simply unheard of for SF State--but what a wonderful problem to have! I'll take that any day!
Everyone, please keep your fingers crossed for your Greek sisters at SF State!

numbers are way up for my sorority alone. and we are local like SAEPI.
from what i have heard, formal recruitment numbers weren't that stellar. if all girls were divided evenly between the 7 national sororities, there would be 19 girls per house. (i think that is what i was told... i don't quite understand how formal recruitment numbers work out.) I talked to the IFC pres today and he said numbers for fraternities were down as well... however i heard that one fraternity had like 20 guys out at their first even last night. another had 10.
a mixed bag i suppose... i guess i will just have to wait until tomorrow to find out the official numbers for the national sororities and then the end of the week for us.
til then...
