The new movie Legally Blonde is based on USC DG's!!! Smile - Delta Gamma

How funny - I was surfing the Legally Blonde movie web page and I noticed that the sorority was called Delta Nu and as I was about to send a card I found this - "If you are going to join a sority, BE CAREFUL! If a rushee makes the wrong choice it can ruin the rest of your entire life. Delta Gamma is the best you can be." How true!! I had heard Reese went to Univeristy of Southern California to do research and obviously she discovered the BEST!!! fabulous movie, a sorority girl doing something good, being smart and beautiful at the same time, imagine that! go see it!!! I laughed soo hard!! The house was so great! Go see it!

Yes, Miss DG- I would be totally jealous that this movie (with the beautiful star-Reese) is based on you all) but I can not because I think in all its fun- it will promote Greek Life and my best friend was a Delta Gamma from University of ILL. I just checked the webpage and it now says Delta Nu - perhaps they made a mistake which was later corrected???

I just went and saw the movie with my mom (a little bonding time before heading back to school)and noticed that the crest for Delta Nu looks almost exactly like Delta Gamma's crest except with a dogs head replacing the rose on top.

It was a really cute movie!!

I was told by my friend that is a USC advisor (where the beginning of the movie - the fountain etc) is filmed that Reese stayed with Kappa before shooting. I suspect the DG ref on the MGM website was just a DG with access to the development.

Also Reese did not have nice things about sororities on the tonight show - she likened them to "a cult"

That said I liked the movie.

Yeah, one of my best friends is a Kappa at USC and Reese was at all of their meals and filmed inside of their house. So while the movie might be based on one of the movie big wig's DG experience, Reese's inspiration was derived from the KKG chapter at USC.

I didn't meet any DGs. I hung with KGs, the Kappa Gammas. Definitely one of the things I took from my experience of sorority girls was a sense of camaraderie and always being supportive of other women. I don't think you see that in movies very often, how close female friendships can be.

Yes, that was corrected, it DEFINITELY said "Delta Gamma" before...I saw it with my own eyes.

Also, Delta Nu's crest does indeed, bear a strong resemblance to the Delta Gamma crest.

I was at Walgreens yesterday reading US Magazine. In it, they have a few pages all devoted to Legally Blonde, everything from the fashions that Reese wears to the makeup. Anyhow, REese said that there's "so much pink" in the movie, b/c she said that in the sorority she stayed with (she went to chapter meetings and such), all were wearing pink. In the movie, she also wears the Tiffany heart necklace and bracelet, b/c she said that all the girls in the sorority she visited were wearing it.

Apparently, Reese acted, dressed, and accessorized as Elle Woods based on what she gathered from her visit at the USC sorority.

Well I don't really care who it is really based on, I just loved the movie... And the house was gorgeous! i wish our house was as nice, although i think we will be incorporating that gym into our home now!
