Indy Love Ideas....
I would host a community service event. Probably one that is sensitive yet critical and should be addressed by both male and females. I would do the "Rejesta V. Perry Birth Right" program where we work with mothers and children who are HIV+ or living with AIDs.
I think in working with any male group, I would try to take advantage of the unique opportunities presented. By co-sponsoring events with a male group, I would try to capitilize on events that can impact both women and men in our community. AIDs is a serious pandemic in our community.
Another idea would be a program celebrating TRAIL BLAZING sisters & brothers. Being that both of our organizations were founded in a predominately white community at a challenging time in American history, I would salute sisters & brothers who dared to be different, dared to stand out, stand up and make a difference. In Sigma's case, a difference that has shone brightly for more than 80 years now! (On the Nov 12)
Lastly, I would suggest doing a program on domestic violence. You could titled it something geared toward sustaining healthy relationships with a particular focus on the Black Family. Many times, women are the ones who hear the information regarding domestic violence but our men sometimes don't. Co-sponsoring an event such as this with a male org. would incorporate a wholistic approach to this issue and hopefully spread the knowledge & reduce the occurance of domestic violence in the black community! I mean we are after all, leaders, trail blazers, family!
Best Wishes on your upcoming programming. Whatever is decided, make sure it is QUALITY and WORTHY of the SIGMA LEGACY of "GREATNESS". Sigma Gamma Rho...the "Greater" Sorority, Since 1922!
Sisterly,
