Question icebreakers/games

Anyone have any good ideas for icebreakers or fun games to play at rush that will help get the rushees to know us and we get to know them?

Talking

The rushees all get names of popular songs on a piece of paper and the sisters get the artists who sing them. Artist and song have to find each other.

We also used that old game "scruples" as an icebreaker but you have to be careful the questions don't get too racy.

I have a good game for you. . .

first break into teams and have each team write down a bunch of random words on paper (1 word to 1 piece), have them crumple them up and put them into a hat. When everyone is ready, have the first team start by drawing out a piece of paper, they must show it to everyone else in the room and think of a song that has that particular word in the lyrics and start singing it aloud. For example, if you pick the word "dream" you must sing a verse of a song that contains that word, like "these dreams go on when I close my eyes. . . ." then the next team must think of a new song with that word in it and so on, until one team is stumped and they can't think of anymore. That team gets a point marked against them. A new word is drawn by a new team and it starts all over again, the team who racks up the least amount of points wins!

IUP/TPA

Indiana University of PA?

If so, I am a Sig Tau at IUP. I have a book that has icebreakers in it. I attended an IFC conference this summer, and they were a lot of fun. Once school starts I can give you a copy of them, before rush starts. Let me know.

Is this for formal rush or COB?
I would suggest not doing ice breakers during FR if other groups are not doing it. I have seen one group so it on several campuses and usually the rushees remark that it is really "odd"

One thing I have seen done sucessfully is a group type up a list of questions for the rushees to ask the sisters instead of the rushees feeling like they are always getting asked about their lives but don't get to know the sisters.

well, you can always use the M&M game where each color is a different question...like red is most embarrassing moment, green is favorite song and so on...and then whoever has those colors answers those questions. It's fun and you get to know people.
