I myself am not greek but i am interested on pledging so I have been doing some research. The topics mentioned greekchat.com are no where close to what I have heard about pledging for BGLO's, at least where I go to school (which is in the ATL). I'm not sure if it's because we don't have houses or if it's because they are BGLO's.
The first thing I recommend you doing is researching the particular fraternity you're interested in, if you're not sure what that is check out the book - The Divine Nine by Lawerence C. Ross, Jr. You should check this book out regardless though, because it has all nine of the African-American sororities and fraternities. The next thing I recommend is community service - I've noticed that many of the frat/sor are BIG on community service. Remember that joining a BGLO is a lifetime commitment. Oh yeah, I could be wrong but I know for the sorority that I am interested in, you need a recommendation from a financially active member. Um, I can't think of anything else right now but if you have any other questions just ask. I don't know if I'll be able to answer it but I could at least give you some ideas on where to look.
Hope everything works out for the best and let me know how everything turns out for you.
