2766 now but within past week before the recent, very brief GC offline break there were between 7000-9800 users.

Seems some of us are so used to GC interruptions, we have yet return to common posting.

Sorry about all the site stability issues lately.

GC web hosting setup hasn't been too stable in the past few months. Had a few hard drive crashes & partial crashes since August. We also are no longer on the same web server that we've been on for nearly the past 2 years. The new server I switched to a month ago is not as powerful as the previous one.

And all the bots... they continue to relentlessly hammer GC. This is probably the cause of most of the problems.

This is probably the peak number of simultaneous bots (mostly) on GC, so far. (I don't believe the current server could manage that number of bot connections.)

And since I redirect many bots away from GC, that number very likely was actually over 100,000.

Spam bots and AI scraper bots are a scourge of the Internet.

Now it's just over 8000. So many bots- there are also multiple security vendors who scan everything for vulnerabilities and sell that information to companies so they can monitor their third party's for risks. All kinds of scans going on all the time.
