I'm hearing virtual first rounds and possibly more. With tracking at 2,000 PNMs, I. Cannot. Imagine.
Then again, it may be the bees' knees!
She sent me a detailed copy of what her daughter who is in active member was sent and it looks like convocation , round 1 and round 2 are the only virtual rounds as of right now . Bid Day is stated as not determined and mentions hoping for it to be a typical one .It also looks like move in for PNM's will stay around the same because some of the virtual parts are done with their PI Chi groups or whatever they are called there.

I honestly doubt it will be the bees knees but think it is a good solution to appease the masses. Definitely some give and take was going on in this plan.

Has the official announcement been made yet? I am curious to see how my daughters school will proceed and I think it will be very similar to what Bama does.

South Carolina put something out today. Everything in person, but extra days added, making recruitment now 14 days long. Not a fan.

FSU seems to be following the trend academically- fall until Thanksgiving in person, then online learning. I imagine Panhellenic will now be able to make some decisions.

The University of Arizona just posted a facebook video talking about their virtual recruitment for this fall. https://www.facebook.com/pg/ArizonaP...=page_internal

I watched the recruitment info video for my alma mater, Univ. of Arizona, since they are moving to virtual. Actually it's partial virtual, partial 'live' (still virtual, but not recorded) and then 'live" which is a creative mix. (Thanks, Arizona-AlphaXi for posting!)

The first round is interesting...PNM's will watch pre-recorded videos produced by each chapter about themselves, then make their selections to go from 12 hours to 9. Then, if I understood it correctly, the next round will be PNM's guided by their rush counselors through 'live' yet virtual parties. It sounded like Round 3 (sisterhood) will be in person followed by Pref and then Bid Day of course, all in person. They're spreading it over a couple of weekends.

The first round will be interesting and very dependent, I think, on how creative and "real" (i.e., not the dazzling sizzle reels we've all seen) a chapter will be. Best of all worlds is if Panhellenic hires one production company to produce the videos for all chapters to ensure sameness of quality and format.

It will be interesting to see how things sort out for rushes versus traditional rush - as someone else posted, this is a generation that lives so much virtually that it could be more seamless than we think; one of my chapter sisters has a daughter in a chapter there so I'll look forward to hear that side of the experience.

Alabama is having a modified recruitment. They said it would be a mix of virtual and in person on IG.

I had to do this in 2017. Not a sample lesson, not a live lesson. Just an intro video.

I think this was coming anyway.

As I understand it, the first two rounds will be virtual. It's possible all 4 rounds will be virtual.
Parents will NOT be allowed to come to Bid Day (some mamas are having a hard time with this and say they're going to come anyway).
PNMs can submit a 60-second video this summer to introduce themselves. I believe Panhellenic is providing some guidelines on what types of things to address during the video.
Lots of uproar, as you can imagine. Some saying it's ridiculous and a crying shame and the PNMs are going to be crushed, others saying it'll make for a much more relaxed recruitment with less stress and less sickness being passed around.

So Clemson put out rules on the video: no editing, no props or guests, no production elements and it can max out at 1 minute. Just a simple background, yourself, and it's just a bit of what people would ask in the open house round: why did you choose Clemson, how are you going to get involved on campus and anything not on the PNM application. I feel like if this is the approach that the other PHCs are going to take it can end up being nice.

Arizona State

ASU is doing virtual round 1 and 2 and possibly in person round 3 and pref, but there will be no final decision until Pres Crow decides how we proceed.

The applications are very detailed and include a video (not mandatory). The videos are going to be key for these PNM's because they show personality and an application can not show you that. The video will be a crucial part of the recruitment process for the PNM. Those choosing not to submit risk being released after round one IMO.

I do like that contact with the PNM's has been relaxed. I think it takes the secrecy out of the recruitment process and these PNM's are asking a lot of questions. I think it is going to be good for the Greek system overall.

Hold on, it is going to be a wild ride!

Auburn just announced a move-in schedule that is bound to affect sorority recruitment. We'll see.

Alabama's parents at Bid Day - they won't be allowed in the houses, but apparently they're not forbidden from coming. Then again, because of construction, it won't be in the stadium that's adjacent to Sorority Row, it will be in the coliseum that's about a mile down the street. So I'm not sure if the new members will try to run all that way (in the heat and humidity!) or they'll bus them up there and let 'em out.

I am not understanding how the dates I saw would affect recruitment. The PNM's move in on Friday and recruitment starts Saturday with bid day on Friday. Am I missing something?

Kent State recently announced that 2020 FR will be virtual. Details are coming but you can read more about it on their IG.
