Auburn Bid Day Access/Wristbands

Well, y'all, AU Bid Day has gotten so big that now wristbands will be required to get into the sorority dorms and courtyards! I can see where they had to do something. http://www.theplainsman.com/article/...istband-system

It also looks like TriSigma will have a dorm when they colonize. Awesome!

The bid day population grew so quickly in the four years my daughter was there, I can't imagine how crowded it is now. She was a Pi Chi the year they moved to the the arena for bids and she said that made a huge difference with organization and flow of people. That was two years ago. I am sure the numbers of bid day onlookers is even greater! The wrist bands are a smart idea.

Alabama is doing the same thing this year.

While I can understand wanting to be part of the excitement, I don't know why so many parents (mostly mamas!) want to be there. Daughters can't spend a lot of time with their parental units, plus the attention should be on the girls. If you can get there and back in a day, fine, but some parents are spending a lot of money to fly in and spend a night or two.

My daughter moves in on Friday and is very excited. We heard that around 1500 or so have signed up for recruitment.

I'll be back for Bid Day to celebrate and support her. And bringing that one last bag of clothing or something she thinks she really must have. I'll also have a chance to see a few friends and family while I am there.

Right now, we are hoping it doesn't rain the entire week!!!

Is that low for Auburn? Seems they have more than that...

I think Auburn had around 1600 last year? Not really certain. I know registrations were still coming in two weeks ago.

Registration closed Aug 1, I believe. Yes, that's a little bit lower than last year. Auburn's Greek system has not been growing as fast as at other schools. Anybody care to speculate why?

Thetalady posted this about Auburn's recruitment on Aug. 14, 2015:

"I have been told that 1615 girls registered for rush, 1489 were placed. That is a 92% placement rate... phenomenal!

I would think that could be true especially for out of state PNM's view of a school. We sent more references from Dallas to Clemson this year than we have in last 4 years combined. Everybody loves a winning team.

Schools that win football national championships generally see a bump in applications the following year...
