Help....what are some appropiate questions to ask?
Hey guys I need some help! I am invited to the Delta Zeta dinner tomorrow night and that night they call us with a bid if they was us to join. 20 girls are rushing and 10 will make it. What are some of the best questions to ask the girls? How can I show them that they are the only ones I want...how can I show them I would be good for their sorority? I love the sorority but I have one dinner to make an impression...any suggestions?

Jules!
Best of luck at your rush dinner tonight!
I would ask questions like the following:
*Why did you join DZ?
*What makes this place/these girls special to you?
*How have you grown as a person through your DZ experience/what do you think you've learned from being a DZ so far?
You just want to show that you are truly interested in these girls for who they are, and not how great their parties are, how beautiful their house is, etc. (Although the parties and the big houses are impressive, to be sure!) You want to show that you are at ease there--that can see yourself fitting in there, with those girls as your new sisters.
I always tell people to try to see themselves in their pajamas in front of all the girls in the house--I mean, it's one thing to love the chapter and the girls when you're all dressed up and looking your best, but would you feel comfortable lounging on the floor, in front of a tv, late at night in your pajamas?
I wish you the best of luck! Keep us posted on how things turn out.

Good luck Jules. DZ is a strong chapter at SWT..it was my daughter's other pref! You've gotten some good advice already from Iam...I would show your interest without being pushy. Some girls get wishy washy and the members think they are not interested in the chapter. Ask about the more serious stuff, like what they have gotten out of it or what is the thing they like about their group the best.
Did you go to every house, or did you pick where you wanted to go? I never experienced Spring Rush so I don't really know how it works.
And let us know what happens!

DGmom...
I picked which houses I wanted to attend based on the nights offered and what interested me...it is impossible to attend all of them. I am starting to get nervous though. I only have one night to make it known that i really want to be a part of this organization. Thank you guys so much for the advice offered so far....I will keep you updated.

I had a situation similar to yours: I was required to attend at least one party at each house, along with an information session. I asked questions about why each of the actives liked the house, why they picked it, and what they felt they contributed to the house. I got some really good questions! I also asked questions about altruism/philanthropy, and things they've done with other greeks (So, I really enjoyed the spaghetti dinner with Beta...are you doing it again this Spring?). Things like that, to let the actives know you are interested and have been paying attention!
Best wishes! Goood Luck!

Just to keep you guys updated...
I went to the dinner last night and they said that they would call us with bids. I don't know if it was last night or today that they were suppose to call. But, I did recieve a call inviting me back to the Alpha Xi Delta Pref night tonight. So that is good...I really enjoyed that house and I am excited.

I know I am a little late.....but, let the sisters know why you want to join their sorority without putting down any of the others, let them know what you can offer them, leadership, etc. through past things, like in high school. if you played sports, etc. tell them what you are intrested in, and above all let them you know you are in it for the long run. when chossing between two girls equally qualified, we are much more likely to take the girl who expresses a long term intrest to get involved, then the girl who just wants to have a good time, and probably won't be around in a year.
and one more thing, TURN YOUR CELL PHONE OFF.(just a little pet peeve for informal rush!)
Best of luck!
