Car Lights On

Hi! Has anyone put on an after-market alarm that signals your lights are left on? My hubby's 92 Honda Civic doesn't have an alarm.

Today, I left the lights on but, luckily, one of the guys had a battery-pack charger! You didn't need another car!!

Said he paid about $75 at Pep Boys.

There are tons of aftermarket products that are supposed to make sure your battery has enough juice to start. Problem is they don't always work... And installing things on your battery is actually sort of dangerous.

I did this once and it worked fine for 6 months or so... Then one day I was in the parking lot and smoke started billowing out from under my hood.

I popped the hood -- the wires going to the device were red hot and the insulation material was melting and dripping all over the engine compartment.

I had to replace several hozes that had holes melted in them. I can only imagine how bad it would have been if this had been close to the gas line.

Just be careful.

KT, I'm not sure we are talking about the same battery device. This is a short version of jumper cables, not something that you leave on your car b/c you wouldn't be able to shut the hood, for one thing, lol.

Hubby saw a similar device in some store ad last night for about $49.

Sears has sale $34.99

Thanks, Chopper! We are going to check with my fav mechanic who is very trustworthy,,THANKS GOODNESS!
