I think they must have been the cause of law students at NYU being interested in sororities and subsequently starting DPhiE at NYU Law School.

I didn't know that about Helen and the Nu chapter! That is a very interesting piece of information.
Like Sciencewoman, I think it would be nice to see some of our other currently inactive single letter chapters come back. The ones I believe are currently inactive are:
Stanford (Lambda)
Northwestern (Rho)
DePauw (Theta)
Kansas (Phi)
Tulane (Pi)
NYU (Nu)
Cornell (Epsilon)
Syracuse (Chi)
UPenn (Psi)
Brown (Beta)
Randoph-Macon (Kappa)
Wisconsin-Madison (Eta)
I would also like to see us at more schools in the Boston area--MIT, Harvard, BU, Northeastern.
I'm excited about all of our re/colonizations, though. I love to see and hear about the Alpha Love spreading to different campuses!

I'd love to see our Lambda Chapter at UConn come back. For a while, our presence in the northeast was dwindling. But now with strong chapters at Boston U and Penn State and the recolonization at Rutgers, a UConn chapter would have some good support in the region.
For new colonizations, I'd love to see growth in the midwest (esp Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, and Kansas) and in the far west (esp southern Cali and U of Arizona).

I almost feel late to this thread, but I want to ultra, extra, super, extremelyyyy stress that I would LOVE for Chi chapter to recolonize at Michigan State University.
My alma mater was "supposed" to be the location for MSU way back when but my lil' ol' LAC ended up there instead. Alpha Gam has been gone for about 12-13 years... let's recolonize after the upcoming groups!!

As soon as their Panhellenic votes to expand, we're next. Just before we closed, Alpha Xi Delta closed and Phi Mu closed just after us. There was an agreement that when the campus was ready to expand, we would have options to return in the order we closed. Alpha Xi Delta recolonized in 2013 so we are next. It's just a matter of making sure the recruitment numbers remain stable.

Ha - I love it. I was reading through the thread and thinking about doing the exact same thing, but then I got to your post and thought "clemsongirl beat me to it!"

Oregon State -- next in stack (Chi)
That leaves:
Goucher (Zeta)
Stanford (Mu)
Hollins (Upsilon)
So, I've got to go with Stanford as my #1 "wish" since that's the only viable option to round out the single letter chapters.
I would also like to see more SEC chapters, more Ivy League chapters, and Texas. And Washington and Lee, but I think they're at optimal capacity and I don't see that changing.

DITTO!
Edit, because I spend too much time thinking about these things. My general categories are "Top 50ish schools", SEC, and well-known schools in major conferences:
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
MIT
Stanford (Mu)
U of Chicago
U Penn
Dartmouth
Johns Hopkins
Cornell
Vanderbilt (Alpha Theta)
Wake Forest
Tufts
UNC
NYU
Georgia Tech
UC San Diego
UC Davis
Tennessee (Gamma Xi)
Arkansas
LSU (Gamma Lambda)
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Baylor
Texas (Alpha Zeta)
West Virginia University (Alpha Pi)
Arizona State (Beta Kappa)

Our Mu chapter at Stanford is also my number one wish, largely because that chapter was integral in the founding of Nu.
A little history: Nu chapter at Oregon began as a local, Tau Pi, which was the first sorority at UO. The members wished to affiliate with a national organization and began to petition Kappa Alpha Theta for a charter. During the process one of Tau Pi's founders transferred to Stanford where she was initiated into Gamma Phi. At her behest and with her help Tau Pi withdrew their petition to Theta and sought a charter from Gamma Phi. In 1908 Gamma Phi Beta became the first NPC org at Oregon and Kappa Alpha Theta followed a year later becoming the second. Both organizations still thrive on campus today!

^^^ I never heard that story...thanks for sharing!
LAblondeGPhi, could you add (Beta Kappa recolonization) to Arizona State? I like your list! I can never remember if we do or don't have chapters at UC Davis and UC San Diego, but you probably have much better awareness of the California chapters!

I would love for Gamma Phi to recolonize our closed chapters, particularly the ones in Texas, and especially our beloved Alpha Zeta chapter at UT-Austin. Stephen F. Austin and Texas Tech would also be great recolonizations, although when Tech offered extension a couple of years ago, we didn't submit for consideration. If Baylor ever expands, I bet we'd do well there.
So many of us want Gamma Phi back in Austin--I wonder if UT will ever decide to expand, and what it will take to bring any sorority back to what has become a very expensive place to maintain a house...

Yes, one of the PDs from my chapter has said this as well. I still think about it too much though.

Phi Mu
I would LOVE to see Phi Mu re-colonize at Rollins (Alpha Omega) and Stetson (Alpha Xi). We had a chance with Rollins last fall when they were open for expansion, but we were ultimately not chosen. One can always dream, though!
I'd also like to see us colonize at UCF and University of Tampa.
