Question Is the TAX FREE WEEKEND coming to you?

Y'all know I am a new resident of North Kackalacky and was all too pumped to find out that this weekend is TAX FREE WEEKEND (thanks Diva Emeritus).

We never had this phenomenon in Ohio. Plus it is extra special because it is the weekend of my birthday and I get paid. Now if only my rent was not due.

So anyone else live in a state that will not charge state taxes this weekend?

Maryland

Just before school starts, MD has a tax free week. This is to encourage parents to shop for school clothes here instead of going to the outlets in PA, DE and VA where there is no tax on clothing.

Maryland taxes EVERYTHING unlike PA. However, my PA return I may get back $20 but in MD, I get back several hundred

DC also has a tax free weekend for the same reasons as MD, to get people to shop for back-to-school clothes in DC instead of leaving the city to do it.

So Does GA

Well here in Georgia, the second one is this weekend. It's still new around here.

The state is just wanting to encourage people to buy more computers and school supplies as well as clothing and stuff (can't go over $100, the clothing). We love it...people were going crazy the first weekend and stores sold out of stuff. So this time around retailers are much more prepared.

I feel you CT4. I get paid this weekend but the rent is calling But I might be able to get a little somethin anyway!
