Ladies Hats

The question of whether or not to wear a dress hat for say, worship service or a tea, came up on Facebook. What do you all think? Do you know of any particular styles that you would love to wear, styles that you wouldn't be caught dead wearing. Let's see some pictures of what you'd wear! Men, how do you feel about women in a hat?

Caveat: I'm not talking about the baseball hat or visors, I'll talking dress hats.

If you look fab in hats, by all means wear them! I, unfortunately, have a huge head and do not.

I have numerous custom-made millinery pieces (English and Irish grandparents), I think it is ALWAYS appropriate.

Our alumnae chapter has held a couple of events that specifically called for the wearing of hats. One was a Kentucky Derby themed party and the other was a ChariTea. It was really fun! (I would post pics, but I haven't figured out how to do that since I'm not allowed to post attachments.)

I have a big head and really thick hair. So I opt for fascinators instead. I love them! Wore some to a couple of Kentucky derby parties a few years ago and got lots of compliments.

I love the concept of a "ChariTea"!! Is that trademarked?

I did a very short stint as a hat model in college, so I have a nice collection of hats. Most have a good sized brim, but aren't wildly decorated. I like to wear them, and I find that a lot of other women will wear one if they know that someone else will. I don't belong to the Red Hat Club (is that still around?), but I wonder if hat wearing started the club.

To buy? LOL - I have plenty! I prefer the portrait style, in almost any material. I've worn a smaller brimmed straw one to church a lot this summer - but it's because I had a bad hair cut!

The Red Hat Club is definitely still around. We had ladies come in who were members when I worked at my old job and I absolutely loved seeing their different hats.

I love any excuse to wear a hat or a fascinator.

The Red Hat Society is definitely alive and well. A good friend of mine was a long time member of a group in San Diego and is now a member in Dubai. It's all about the attitude!

I also have a big giant head but would wear hats if I could find them large enough.

I generally like the look of hats on other ladies, but not on me. They squash down my hair. Last time I wore a hat was in a play.

The Red Hat Society is indeed alive and well. My late GMIL was a member. A few years back, I was visiting a winery for a wine tasting, and in came a group from the Red Hat Society - one of them was wearing a foam lobster as her red hat!

I'm not a hat person. I wear my hair long and loose at home and in social situations. When I'm at work or working in my garden, I tie my hair back in a bun or ponytail.

When I was a rho chi (yes, I was a rho chi in the days when rho chis were called rho chis) we were required to wear hats so that we could be easily identified by rushees. I borrowed a straw hat from my mother.
