Restaurant Horror Stories!!!!
Ladies, I just HAD to post the WORST restaurant experience that I have ever had. I went to a Chinese restaurant last night for take out. I placed my order, paid, and decided to sit and wait for my food. While I was sitting, a MOUSE ran across the floor!! I knew that I had seen a mouse, but I was just thinking to myself, "I KNOW that I didn't just see a mouse!" So, I got up and went outside to call my mother. She told me to just leave the restaurant, but I had paid already so I couldn't just leave.
While I was out on the phone, the guy came out and gave me my food. I thought about just leaving, but in the back of my mind, I knew that I didn't want the food. So I went back in and quietly told the waiter that I had seen a mouse. He grabbed a flashlight and went to look in the area that the mouse had ran. While he was looking, the phone rang and the waiter proceeded to take a phone order. I was like, WTF?? I am HERE and I see a mouse!! How dare you ignore that!! I was really trying not the cause a scene, but he was acting nonchalant while Mighty Mouse had come back out, waved at me, laughed, and ran around.
Some random guy that was just hanging out in the restaurant came over to see what I was talking about. I told him and he saw the mouse. He then said, "Oh. OK," and went and sat back down!! Some goofball waitress had come over and was just standing next to me like she was crazy. I pointed to the mouse, who had then begun to run around the waiting area. She was just smiling and giggling like it was an everyday occurance. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone because everyone seemed to not be as worried about the mouse as I was. So I said, "Since you wanna laugh, laugh your @ss to the cash register and give me my money back!" The waiter seemed p.o.ed that I asked for a refund. He hastily handed me my money and I ran up out of there. Please believe that the Board of Health got a phone call!
Can you believe that?! Has anyone else had a horrible restaurant experience?

I haven't had a 'restaurant' mouse incident but I have had a 'food court' mouse incident.
Me and my girl go to the mall for our lunch break a couple of times a week. Well one time, all of a sudden we see this wave of people getting up and screaming. Turns out a mouse is running around the food court! So one of the workers is running around to catch it and then picks it up by the tail and carries it off. Lord knows where he took it!
Ugh! This just gives me the shakes when I think about it.
Not to mention this is one of the nicest malls in the area! And people just laughed and kept eating. Um..hello...did you just not see Mickey Mouses little cousin running around by your feet?? Oh hell naw! Me and my girl were out of there!

No, it was Mai Tai on Crowder. Where is China Doll? I may have to start going there. Chinese Kitchen is too far. Besides, to me, it's not as great as people claim it to be.

If Chinese Kitchen is too far, then China Doll is also. CD is on the WestBank off Manhattan.

Another Chinese restaurant story
I remember years ago when my mother sent me to the neighborhood Chinese restaurant to get us some dinner one night. Okay, no problem, since I went there on a regular basis. However, that night turned out to be the last time that I went to that place. As I am standing there waiting for the lady to take my order, something told me to just look into the kitchen. Lo, and behold, what do I see but one of Mickey's family members walking through the kitchen!!! I said to myself, maybe I was seeing things. It was not my minds playing tricks on me, it was a mouse in the kitchen. I kindly just walked out of the restaurant, found the nearest pay phone and told my mother what happened. Let's just say that we did not have Chinese that evening.
BTW - The restaurant no longer exists - it's been replaced by a bodega.

Referring to vermin as "Mickey's family members." We're truly creative here on this GC.

Slightly off topic here but, since there have been so many mouse stories...
We lived in Pennsylvania for a while when I was very young. Knowing that we wouldn't be in the state for long (just there for a temporary job that my dad was doing for his company), my parents decided to rent a townhouse instead of making a costly home purchase.
The townhouse we moved into was next to a big cornfield, and we used to get fieldmice in the house every now and then. My parents usually just shooed them out the door until, one night, my dad actually had one crawl up his chair and sit on his shoulder while he was watching TV. After that incident, Mom kept traps out for any uninvited house guests of the rodent variety.
Everytime that someone came to visit, I would invite them in to see our mice... Of course, the standard response to that invitation was, "You have MICE?"... So, me being the informative 4-year-old that I was, I would always reply, "Sure, wanna see the traps we've got for them?"
Mom was mortified but, hey, I was four --- what did I know? I just thought it was cool to have critters running around. They looked like my hamsters -- I didn't see a problem with it.

OK. I think that I know where that is. I went there one day for lunch. I work on the Westbank and we went to the buffet for lunch. I live in the East and that's kind of far to ride just for take-out. I used to hear that Jade East and Kim Ahn were good, but then, you never know. Chinese is something that you have to test and rate for yourself.

Okay, this is not a mouse story
Why did my old co-workers use to frequent a place that had such a terrible roach problem, that the fellas would literally have to knock roaches off the walls and tables before they could sit down.
They thought it was hilarious. They would always joke about it, but they continued to eat there.
I didn't get it. I don't have roaches in my own kitchen, I'll be damn if I'm about to pay good money to eat in restaurant with roaches in the kitchen, in the waiting area, and in the dining room.

In college, some of my DZ sisters and I met for dinner at one of the local Mexican restaurants. We were right in the middle of dinner when a roach ran across the wall about 6 inches from one of my sisters.
Never went there again.

NOOOOOOO. That's probably Mandarin House. China Doll (no buffet) is closer to the expressway in the shopping center with Universal and Burlington.

Ok. I know where you are talking about. I havn't been there. The place that I went to was at Manhattan and Lapalco, in a strip mall. I've forgetten the name. I usually go to another restaurant (you guessed it, I don't remember the name!) It is off of Lapalco and Barataria, between Luther's and Walgreens. It's over where Belle Promenade was. They are pretty good.

Roaches and Mice and Rats ... Oh My!!!
I have a mouse and a roach story. Neither deal with a restaurant, but I'mma tell them anyway.
First the mouse. One of my best girlfriends is a VERY strange, hippie-type, big time weed smoker (out of a bong and er'thang). So, she's at my apartment one night (I no longer live there) and after we've both partaken of excessive libations, and she of excessive herbal stimulation, we decide to watch a little TV and go to bed. I'm on the phone and I see her sitting in the living room just chillin', but I see she's staring at something and her eyes seem to be following it. After like 3 minutes of this, she finally busts out cracking up and is like, "Dude, the cutest rat just ran under your couch." All nonchalant like. So, I ignore her and charge it to the weed and continue talking on the phone. Please know that this fool begins hunting for the rat (damn y'all calling them mice!) talkin' bout she wants to catch him and set him free . So, long story short (too late), I finally see the rat about an hour later and was terrified out of my mind. I had a twin bed at the time and my girlfriend is of the larger persuasion, but believe that both of us slept our grown a$$es in a twin bed, with the door closed and locked and moved my desk in front of the door. All this for the smallest, little rat. Comedy, I tell you. My landlord came and put down traps the next day. I moved out about a month later. The breaking point was when I came home one night and half a loaf of my bread was eaten. Mind you I lived alone and I knew I didn't eat it.
Now my nasty roach story. Picture this. I'm in my hometown visiting for Christmas and decide to check out Rush Hour at the dollar show. I already knew the theater was not up to par, but hey, it's a dollar, so what should I expect? Welllllllllllllllllllll, we get into the theater and not 5 minutes after the movie starts, I feel something crawling on my arm. I dismiss it as a fly, mosquito, ...... something. You know after the movie starts, it takes a minute for your eyes to adjust to the light and when they did, y'all why was the theater INFESTED with roaches??? I'm talkin' bout all over the seats in front of us, a few on the screen.... I mean they were EVERYWHERE!!! I was sick to my stomach. We left the theater immediately and I went straight home to take a shower and wash my hair. Just triflin', I tell ya!
