Treadmills

Any treadmill fans here?

My wife and I are researching/buying a good treadmill. We (well, let me not lie, mostly my wife) have done the research and it's looking like Nordictrack (sp) vs. Sole.

Anybody have other favorites brands? are there other measurables (beyond the obvious) we might be missing (or should be considering) in our preparation?

I don't know a lot about treadmills, but we just bought an elliptical. My husband did a lot of research and we tested out close to a million (ok... only about 12 but it felt like more). We ended up going with a Precore. I love it and have used it almost everyday since its delivery.

I know I personally really enjoy treadmills that have a fan on them, but it's not a deal breaker for most people

I would just buy one with the biggest motor you can afford. You don't want it to feel chintzy, wobbly, or like you've pushed it to the limit. I've had treadmills overheat on me after just a few minutes and that is seriously annoying.

I'm starting to price out treadmill desks vs. treadmill + desk since I work from home. Some of the combo-desks have too short of a belt and maximum speed is low. I have tried the cheap home treadmills and don't like them -- wobby, short belts and narrow sides. I really want a commercial Life Fitness treadmill but they are $$$$.

I'm not giving up on this endeavor.
