Sigma Alpha @ LSU??

Hey everyone, so I first came on GreekChat to get opinions on if I should spring rush at LSU. Being that I will be a junior in the spring and have a low GPA, the feedback I've gotten was to not get my hopes up at all. But a girl in my class suggested her sorority to me, Sigma Alpha.

I did a little research and found out that Sigma Alpha is basically the sorority version of AGR. It's listed under PHC on LSU's Greek website and it has a house and all, but it doesn't go through formal rush with the rest of the sororities nor does it participate in things like exchanges. It does, however, participate in Greek week and such things.

Can anyone tell me more about Sigma Alpha and explain to me why it's different than other Greek sororities?

I don't know anything about them other than they are not one of the 26 NPC groups.

It's not primarily a social sorority and was started for ag majors. It is not a female version of AGR, which is a social ag fraternity. Google their national website to learn more.

Hi Mae:

I bet the woman in your class who suggested that you consider Sigma Alpha would be delighted to tell you more about it.

I was thrilled to see that they support Companion Animal Alliance and even have "shelter" dates on their calendar!

And Habitat for Humanity? What a great opportunity to help with building a home for a family in need.

Let us know what you find out! It sounds like a wonderful opportunity.
