RUSH Ideas? HELP!!!

Hey Everyone,
Theta Phi Alpha chapter Alpha Zeta needs your help! Greek life is sooo unrepresented due to the numerous "local" Christian organizations also known as housholds here. Greek life has a stigma attatched to it. But that is slowly changing.

This fall is our biggest Rush in such a long time. Right now, all we are sure on is a big BBQ social/party on campus. However, we're kind of stumped on the rest of the week...HELP!

Do you know of any good sites or have any ideas you can share? There is only 2 nationals here (Alpha Phi Delta) in our school.

Please reply or write to ThetaPhiALphaZeta@hotmail.com

Thanks!

Fatima

One way to combat this image and the predominance of religious based fraternities is to tout your diversity. But within your diversity also show that you are free to express your religion.

When you are trying to recruit someone that would otherwise be looking at a christian organization, take them to church with you. Go to church with them. Show that they can be comfortable in your organization and practice their religion just as before.

You go to a Catholic school, right? I may be incorrect, but I though Theta Phi Alpha was originally founded as a Catholic sorority, although it is open to everyone. That detail may be worth playing up.

Also, the national aspect is a great one to mention. Lifelong networking, fun roadtrips, unexpectedly meeting sisters everywhere you go ... your chapter can offer those things that the local households can't.

And KTsnake is right, you may want to play up your individual member's religious ties more than one is generally encouraged to during rush. (They always tell us religion, boys and politics are no-nos, but you have the exception here!)

Good luck!

I would suggest silly little things like a skit night...present a skit that humorously gets all of your values, ideals, etc. across so that the rushees can see what they are without having to sit there and listen to someone just talking...nothing worse than being bored at rush...

good luck

A good angle to play up is the philanthropy. I know when I rushed AST their community service was very inprotant to me.... its a good way to throw off the bad vibe most greeks get

And make sure that you emphasize that you're not just one house on that campus, but an entire national sorority with X # of chapters throughout the world.
