Interested in Joining AKA

Hello my name is Ericka and I am new to Greek Chat the reason I signed up is because i am very interested in joining one particular sorority... which is Alpha Kappa Alpha. I know what i have to do to get there, and since i only have about one aka in my family it would be nice to interact with more women in this particular organization just for any questions that i may have. There are many akas on campus but sometimes i feel like they will look at me strange if i ask them questions about it. i need to learn how i can interact with them more because i know many of them can be offended if i ask the wrong thing so i know i have to be cautious in what i say. if there is anyone that will be willing to answer some questions for me i would really appreciate it thank you

You will not get particular advice on joining AKA on this board. However, your question boils down to the essentials of joining any NPHC organization:

You have to be able to make friends with strangers.

But first, you should probably ask the AKA in your family to introduce you to other AKAs. It would be nice to have more family friends at your disposal to ask questions of rather than coming to a message board, right?

After that, you really need to work on yourself, build your confidence, and get out there and meet the members of the chapter. They are ultimately the people who will be able to answer your questions.

Don't befriend them as a means to an end. Befriend them because they are nice people that you want to be around.

Thanks for your help and the one family member that is aka.. me and her are not that close so i dont want to make it seem like Im only using her for information since we dont talk on a regular basis I see her at some family functions and we talk but we have never disscused that issue and I barley see her because she lives in NY and i live in Ga Im not a shy person at all its just the fact that I dont like rejection in fact Im a very sociable person.. i guess when it comes to this particular issue it just makes me a little nervous @sensrevenge
