Greek Life has Changed me, You too?

Can something considered an extracurricular have so much meaning? Change a person’s life? The answer is Yes. If I’m similar to other girls in college who are in a sorority, I can surely say that being apart of a sorority has given my life more substance. By this I mean that being apart of an organization has made me feel apart of something bigger than myself. At college, I am a sister of Sigma Delta Tau. Our motto is One Hope for Many People. There are so many ways to interpret this, but I interpret it as an idea that Sigma Delta Tau provides girls a chance to distinguish themselves and provide for communities, friendships and find who they are.
Every girl I have met who is in a sorority states that Greek Life has changed who they are, in the most beneficial way possible. Sororities allow for me and others forever friendships, leadership opportunities and chances to give back the community through volunteering and fundraising for numerous philanthropies. It also gives a sense of pride to me that I am apart of such a large organization which can create numerous connections for me in the working world. Lucky is not even close to how I feel when I reflect on being apart of SDT, but grateful. All sisters in a sorority should feel appreciative that there is a group so similar yet diverse to them. I believe that there is a place for everyone in Greek Life and letting it be apart of my life is the best decision I’ve ever made.

Anyone else feel the same?

I'm happy that you feel this way. And I don't mean to diminish what you've said here at all, but...

It's A PART.. not APART (a·part /əˈpärt/ Separated by a distance; at a specified distance from each other in time or space). If you were "apart" from your sorority, you wouldn't be "a part" of it at all.

Sorry, pet peeve

Yes, I do. That's why when I wrote my rush story I called it "My sorority membership changed my life" (see my signature). It truly was a life changing experience for me in so many ways.

Mm409--I totally agree. Being an ADPi brought out the best in me in college and I still hold myself to a higher standard today--21 years later--because of it. I have an instant connection to my Panhellenic sisters now so not only do I have my ADPi sisters, I have a whole Greek network of friends.

I was involved in a million different organizations in college and I definitely learned the most from my Fraternity. It didn't necessarily change me as much as just growing up did, but it did encourage me to be the best version of myself and to always strive to be better.

(Please ignore my poor grammar in that last sentence!)
