What am I doing wrong?
This is open to all greeks. I am seeking a BGLO sorority, I wouldn't pursue this org. if I didn't meet GPA requirements, community service expectations, or if I didn't educate myself on the org's history. This is something I want but I've been rejected before and to be honest the odds don't seem to be in my favor this year either. I attend the events and I'm friendly with them but I notice a few select girls seem very close. I missed the rush last year and I would hate to miss it again when the semester just started. So any advice on what else I should know or need to be doing? I know to maintain my grades and continue my involvement on campus but what makes one an "exceptional" candidate.?
Thanx in advance!!

Are you truly being a humble aspirant?

It's interesting to me that putting the words "Humble", "hopeful", "inspired" and the like in your username seems to be congruous with being an "Eternal" aspirant. Not that I am claiming to know anything about the particular system the OP is interested in joining, but she did ask "all Greeks".

My advice? Don't miss rush this year and keep a classy profile in real life and online. However, you say you've been rejected before, and you should be prepared for the same result a second time. After that point, I would let it be and not pursue it further.

I missed the rush last year because I didn't know about it. I understand that rushing is open to anyone but members of the organization select individuals to inform of when this process begins. I was advised from a Grad member to try again, I know anything worth having you must work for. I am also aware that I am not entitled to anything but I just didn't want to be discouraged just yet. Does anyone have any additional advice/ experience they wouldn't mind sharing?

I don't think you are going to get much feedback from any of the NPHC ladies. Best of luck!

Sounds like the grad member is someone you might invite to coffee or a movie every once in awhile.

Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way
I can't wait to look in the mirror
I get better looking each day
To know me is to love me
I must be one hell of a man
Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble
But I'm doing the best that I can.

Thank you for getting "Whip My Hair" out of my head. I saw it on a car commercial three days ago and have not been able to get rid of it!!

Humble,
While I don't know your particular campus, all of my NPHC sisters are seeking out the cream of the crop, the "best of the best" if you will. My only advice is to keep doing what you're doing. Don't settle for meeting expectations (GPA, involvement, etc.), exceed them. Find out what makes you a special, exceptional, amazing potential member and play that up.
Remember that humility does not mean hiding your light under a bushel. Stay focused on what's important (school, family, mental/spiritual well being). If it's your time, congratulations. If not, keep pushing. Good luck!

Thank You ms.BossLadyAKA! I appreciate your encouraging words. Hopefully your advice will help me explore some of the things that make me unique not only for the benefit of being an attractive candidate but for personal growth as well. Peace
