Arkansas Spring Rush
I decided to rush in the spring semester at UofA. 2 questions. Does anyone know if all the fraternities here do spring rush? And do letter of recommendations actually help when it comes to fraternities?

It could help, but depends on which fraternity you are rushing for.
For most freshmen, you can't really get a rec letter...no one really knows you in the beginning of the semester...

At Arkansas, springs aren't that well looked upon. It's up to you, just giving you a heads up. Better to wait till fall, springs exist purely because we need someone to clean the house

Why are you still pretending to have been an active at Arkansas? We have long memories at GC.

To be honest, the idea that I'm not is fairly ridiculous. Six years of trolling is kind of hard work.
I obviously fabricated some of the early stories for a multitude of reasons, mainly so I could say whatever the hell I wanted.
I'm alumni now, can't really care about the storylines now.

According to their website, info on IFC Spring Recruitment will be available December 14. Good luck to you! As far as cleaning houses, I think all pledges get stuck with housekeeping duties, no matter when they join. http://uagreeks.uark.edu/interfraternityrecruitment.php

Oh, and if you're asking about recommendations from fraternity alums, they are usually not a requirement or big deal for IFC recruitment. (Panhellenic recruitment at an SEC school, different story!) If you know some men who are alums, it won't hurt to get a recommendation, but it doesn't guarantee anything. It could serve as a pre-recruitment introduction, give a heads up that you're coming through...no harm in that and some fraternity websites even have areas where alums can recommend a potential member. (An alum doesn't have to have been a member of the specific chapter at your school, just a good standing alum of the national fraternity.) A recommendation won't necessarily help you, but it won't hurt.

So now you are saying that you lied about lying about being active? You said you had never affiliated with your chapter at UA and added some pretty nasty thoughts about the chapter. Even if you wanted the freedom to say what you wanted to say, why in the world would you attack the members of your "chapter"?
If you had wanted to say "whatever the hell" you wanted to say, then why didn't you just keep your affiliation to yourself? Shinerbock never stated which chapter he belonged to at (Auburn or Alabama- I forget which). He made his points and nobody ever questioned him.

I am not super familiar with men's rush at Arkansas but am very familiar with girl's rush there. I would have to say that a rec from an alum can be very helpful at this competitive school. At the very least, it might put you on a group's radar.
Glad you are around to keep things in line, LaneSig!
