They graduated something like 3/4's of their team. I think BSU is about to take a long trip back to reality-land. . If not - Peterson is one heck of a coach and if Chip ever really does leave for the NFL - we need to pick him up pronto!

Overall, I don't see anything that makes me go AACK! Are these pollsters all on meth!

I don't get putting Notre Dame (again) in the top 25 since they haven't done much in the last what...15 years to justify that ranking in my opinion, but it seems inevitable. I think Georgia is ranked too high, but I'd put them in the top 25 still. FSU....mmm, I think it's too high...not sure where I would put them. I think Nebraska and Oklahoma State have a complaint and are too low. Now if the BCS would just call me to get it all straight, there'd be no problems and we'd have a completely fair system....at least fair from my perspective. LOL.

EA: I think LSU is still top 5, but these rankings came out, I believe, before the whole Honey Badger fiasco, so that might change things slightly for them.
Wow, we think alike on pretty much everything!

-LaMichael James was a great player, but Oregon should be fine with Kenjon Barner and DeAnthony Thomas. Barner would have started for a majority of teams in the country the last few years, but it just so happened that Oregon had one of the most explosive players in the country just ahead of him on the depth chart. Darron Thomas was a good QB, but Brian Bennett is really good.

-I agree with you on Notre Dame. This year, their schedule really amps up. Adding in Miami, Oklahoma (on the road) and I believe they also have BYU. Outside of Charlie Weis' 1st 2 years, they haven't really been relevant on a consistent basis since the end of the Lou Holtz era.

-Georgia has some really good skill players on offense (even with the loss of Crowell, and they have 2 stud freshman running backs coming in), and their defense (when everyone comes back) could possibly be the best in the country. A trio of Jenkins, Rambo, and Jones is just scary. All 3 are potential 1st round picks next April. Their Offensive Line, as it seems every year, is the biggest unknown. If that unit can gel, and given the fact that they don't play LSU, Arkansas or Alabama during the regular season, could result in them playing again for the SEC Championship, and perhaps even the National Championship.

-FSU is definitely on the right track. They should have a real good year. Jimbo has done a solid job recruiting, but I think they may be a year or two away (just wait for him to accumulate another 1 or 2 top 10 classes).

-Entering the 2010 season, Oklahoma State literally lost everyone, and most people picked them to finish last or second to last in their Big XII Division, and they won 11 games. They might not win 11 this year, but I can definitely see them winning about 9. Mike Gundy is one of the more underrated coaches in the country.

-I think that when the AP Poll comes out, either USC or Alabama will be ranked #1. Gun to my head, I'll say it will be USC.

Also, Denard Robinson for the Heisman.
Oh Lord, the conundrum. Who to root for, who to root for? The arch-enemy of my beloved Buckeyes or the SEC speed we are the only ones who count in college football crowd? Since having the earth swallow up both teams is not going to happen, I hope that Michigan narrowly beats Alabama. Wait, maybe I change my mind. Alabama narrowly beats Michigan. Wait, no, oh heck. I think that Michigan will hang with Alabama for the first half and then, unfortunately for the Big 10, Alabama will smoke them in the second half.

Well, if the 4 team play-off system doesn't work - we'll have to put our great minds together and come up with our own version of the BCS!.

I don't doubt Georgia's talent - I doubt their coach. Just not impressed with him so far. That softer schedule will definately help them, but I just can't see them playing for an NC this year. I could see them playing for an SEC championship and losing it. That, unfortunately won't help them finish in the top 4 since the SEC west is stronger.

I agree that FSU is improving, but do I think they've improved enough to put them in the top 10 - no. 11-15 I could see, but if there was one team I'm really just not sure where to put them - it's FSU.

I'm with you on Oklahoma State even though their QB is gone. Still like the coach, like the investment T. Boone's put into the program and think they are on the rise.

Conference loyatly should make me choose USC, but bleh....Objectively I'd agree with you though....however, they just had another defensive player, Devante Wilson, go down with a torn ACL and I think getting them through the season healthy will be a challenge. I think he's their third out for the season.

For us - I like Bryan Bennett, but he has quite a race on his hands. Marcus Mariotta lit up our spring game, so we don't know yet who our QB will be. We have two really good options and a soft schedule to start with that will give them time to acclimate, so that helps.

I sympathize. Feel the same way about UW (University of Washington - no Wisconsin) playing LSU. I should probably go with conference loyalty, but in this case....yeah, just can't bring myself to do that.

I don't think it will be too big of a problem. Other talent will step up. Since the quarterback from Penn State came here we may be using a 2 quarterback system again.

I am more concerned about how Arkansas will do after the coach's scandal.

lol
I guess I'm like that when the Minnesota Gophers are up against State. I spent my first two years of undergrad at UND (University of North Dakota), then I transferred to U of M (MINNESOTA not Michigan ) where I got my degree. I graduated from vet school at Michigan State, so that's why I cheer for State. I cheer for both teams (Minnesota and State) when they're up against each other. But, never, never, never for Michigan.

I agree that LSU is loaded, and I don't think losing him will take them out of the top five - just might move them around a little bit in it.

I actually forgot all about Bobby Petrino. UW's old defensive coach apparently just took the mistress' job which I think....will suit him well. .

A bit off-topic: Cheerfulgreek, which of your three teams do you root for during College Hockey Season?
