SYTYCD-Season 9
Anyone watching So You Think You Can Dance this summer? I thought that most of the dancers were great. One of the dancers is a ZTA from the University of Central Florida-Tiffany.

I LOVE SYTYCD. LOVE IT. Season 2 & Season 7 have been my favorites thus far. This year's crop is so strong! I love so many of them. Last week my favorite routines were the Titanic piece (if Travis Wall choreographs something, I love it), the NappyTabs cat piece with Amelia & Will, and of course the paso.

I absolutely loved those routines also! I liked Witney's routine, although I didn't like her partner.

I was kind of shocked that the judges weren't entirely thrilled with Amelia and Will tonight. I thought they did extremely well.
Whitney and Keyon danced beautifully to 'I Will Always Love You.'
Eliana and Cyrus were awesome. I don't know why I like Eliana so much.. but I do.
Aside from all of that, I love the show's no-bulls***, here-are-the-results, one-show-a-week format. They get right down to business and don't make me waste minutes of my life waiting for one result, and hours of my life watching 2 or 3 hour-long episodes each week. Bravo! Someone has finally figured it out.
My only complaint would be that if they need any of the bottom six dancers to "dance for their lives," they should have all of them dance. Leaving anyone out makes it obvious that they'll be saved by the judges.

It was District 72, feat. Cheesa. I kind of liked it.
(I make a note of every song/singer/band on this show - I think I end up putting half of them on my iPod)

Thank you! Such a delightfully creepy version of that song.

Obviously, my loyalties are with Tiffany (Go ZTA), but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Eliana. I think it has to do with her auditions. She is a pointe dancing ballerina who can do some crazy Cirque du Soleil moves. She is hard core!
For the guys, Cole is my favorite so far.

Tiffany is definitely a favorite of mine. I LOVED her first dance and her most recent hip hop dance, so fun!! I also like Amelia ( theres something about her that stands out to me and I can't figure it out). And Lindsey as well

I thought that it was a great finale show. I thought it was kind of mean for Nigel to tell Cyrus that he wasn't going to vote for him. It was such an upbeat night, and I though that statement brought down the mood of the theater in one fail swoop. Of course I voted for Tiffany (she is one of my advisees), but I thought Eliana was amazing too. Cheron makes me tear up a little. All 4 are incredibly talented and charismatic dancers.

I agree. That comment wasn't necessary, especially at this point in the competition. The guy has worked his butt off all season, has been the one person who is constantly waaay out of his comfort zone, and he still managed to make it farther than 16 other dancers. I think sometimes the judges say things like this to try and influence the vote so that their favorite person wins it all.
The Cyrus/Twitch dance was awesome. And I even enjoyed the ballet number, which is NOT my favorite style. All of the performances were great.
I think the title is up for grabs, but I'd be willing to bet that one of the girls wins.

I have never followed this program before this season -- now I'm a fan!
I recorded the finale performances, but haven't watched the entire program yet. I was under the impression that there would be a guy and a girl winner -- is there only one?
I have to say -- I love them all, but I'm pulling for Tiffany too.
Of possible interest to Phi Mus -- Janelle Issis (the belly-dancer from Birmingham) was a Phi Mu at Alabama.

In the past there has only been one winner. This season is different and they will have a two winners, one guy, one girl. Personally I like it better this way. It is very difficult, in some styles, to compare the men and women fairly. A great example from the finale would be the Nutcracker/Ballet pas de duex. I mean obviously, Eliana looked amazing, but if you are not familiar with that style would you really think anything of Chehon?
While on that topic: really? Nutcracker? There are thousands of other ballets and you go for that one? At least choose one that has the male partner do a little more. Don't get me wrong. I loved it, but I'm an ex-ballerina. It was not the best choice for a competition.
In the beginning, Eliana and Chehon were my favorites along with Will. I was pulling for Alexa originally as well. Tiffany has really grown on me. While Cyrus is ridiculous in his style and has grown considerably, I've never enjoyed watching him dance in other styles. It has always seemed so simplified and almost bland.
