Any tips on how to stand out during recruitment?
Hi! I went through formal recruitment this past fall but had to drop out. I would be rushing again this upcoming fall as a junior. Rush is a little different in my school since the sororities don't have houses. I was just wondering if any of you have any tips on how to stand out from other girls during recruitment? I know academics are important and I have a 3.2 gpa but i don't know if that is too low. Any advice would be appreciated

Why did you have to drop out? Do you have friends in any of the chapters?

Conversation is king. Have answers ready for as many questions as you can think of that you could be asked and have questions ready to ask them, about them personally, about the chapter and about the sorority at large. And I'd be ready with a good explanation for why it took you so long to want to join a sorority.
Make sure that in your desire to stand out, you don't do so in a bad way. Your best real self is the best person to put forward. If you're trying to be funny, claaaasssy, whatever, it's likely going to blow up in your face.
And by the way a LOT of schools don't have chapter houses so that's not that unusual.

I forgot to specify, I dropped out after rush. The sorority I had gotten a bid from wasn't what I was looking for in a sorority. They are poorly involved on campus and I just didn't click with the girls. And I do have one friend in one sorority and then four or five other friends in another sorority (originally the sorority I wanted to be in).
The problem is that the first time I rushed I was super closed minded and wanted just specific sororities which backfired because I got dropped by them the first night but now that I know how rush week goes I'm willing to give every sorority a shot and hopefully find my home

Willing to give EVERY sorority a chance or all of them except for the one that didn't live up to your expectations?

Ask yourself why any of the sororities that didn't want you as a sophomore will want you as a junior. What will make you a better candidate this time? Believe me, as a rerushing depledged junior, you will stand out.

BEST.STATEMENT.EVER.
Yes, I have to agree with the rest of the posters. You clearly don't have an open mind. I'd love to know what school you attend. I'm sure you will def. stand out considering you were "too good" to join the chapter that didn't live up to your expectations.

Sell yourself! There's gotta be SOMETHING you're involved with or passionate about that will make the girl rushing you stop and think, "Wow, she's really got something going for her, what a great addition she'd be to our chapter!"
And one more thing: Treat EVERY chapter like it's the best chapter in the world. Even if you know you don't belong there... when I went through rush, I tried to be as energetic and interested and asked as many meaningful questions as possible about each of my school's 14 chapters. It really helped -- I had full schedules every day of recruitment, and I think that is because I made sure each girl knew that I cared.

Not to mention, if the sororities don't have houses, that usually means the system is on the small side and EVERYONE knows EVERYONE'S business as far as who depledged, etc.
Unless you have become close friends with 90% of the members of one of the chapters, I honestly would not bother re-rushing.
