Weirdest Thing a PNM has said?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what are some of the weird things PNM's/other greeks/GDI's have said or told you? They could be about your chapter or another on campus.

For example:

A freshman girl, who apparently LOVES purple, was in our university choir with me and a few sorority sisters. We could tell because for about a full week, her outfits were always cutely coordinated with purple, she had purple bags, etc. After the first week of classes of the new semester, she stopped wearing purple. She went through recruitment and I asked her at one of the parties why she stopped wearing so much purple. Apparently she didn't want to "offend" anyone because it was one of our sorority's colors. She thought it was sacred.

Funny thing was, a week later she got a bid from us and she wore purple LITERALLY NON STOP FOR A MONTH. I now call her little (she doesn't wear as much purple anymore though)

I don't think that is weird. I think that is sweet & respectful! BTW, I write only in purple

This is normal in the NPHC.

We have had threads like this before. The only thing that comes to mind right now is when my nonGreek friend (she comes from a country where collegiate Greekdom is nonexistent) always asks to hang with my Sorors and asks for me to teach her how to step. We have an acquaintance who is an AKA (we can't save them all) and my friend sometimes forgets that Delta and AKA are not the same thing. I laugh because she usually shuts herself up without my telling her to sit down somewhere. LOL.

A few years ago, I attended a wedding where one of the guests was the mother of a friend of the groom. (The groom and my husband were friends in high school.) My husband and I chatted with this woman for a bit, and she mentioned that she was active with her sorority. I asked her which sorority, and she said "Delta Sigma Theta".

She then said something that I assume is an "Are you a Delta?" challenge question. My intended response was, "I've heard a lot about Delta, and every member I've met has been a great woman - I'm an AEPhi." (I wanted to indicate that I was curious about her greek affiliation as a fellow greek, but that I was not a Delta.) But before I could get a word out of my mouth, my husband barged in with "Yeah, I think she's heard of your sorority but whatever, how is your family?"

I could have kicked him in the teeth. He's a Mason, for crying out loud - he should at least have a vague idea that a particular statement, delivered in a particular tone of voice, is a challenge, not random conversation.

This happened while I was on duty at a selective sorority's party:

Gorgeous PNM (PNM, not member), nodding towards a plainer PNM and speaking to a member of the sorority: "I can't believe y'all asked her back. She'll never make it into THIS sorority."

Actually we don't have challenges in the sense that some GLOs will have. We do, but they can not be used in public.

I understand. Still, I think he would have recognized that the question I was being asked was a challenge.

I'll shut up now.

Did this question perhaps involve a White Tea Leaf? I don't know the answer (nor should I) but I have heard that question before.

Without knowing what my Soror said, I cannot say whether it was an actual challenge.

Your guess is as good as mine.

I've looked at where I heard that phrase, was a different group (our question was said on the same page, part of an alumni thing). But thanks for acknowledging it.

To me, it sounded like a challenge. I intended to clarify that I'm not a Delta, I'm an AEPhi - but my husband interrupted before I could get a word out.

Several years ago, a PNM asked the initiated member she was paired with if we, as a sorority, had sex parties. I'm positive it happened because I know the member who was asked.
