There are different stereotypes for every group, but it is by chapter not by the sorority as a whole. On one campus a group might be a bunch of study-bunnies. On another, the same sorority is a bunch of atheletes.

Go through Rush with an open mind and ignore the rumors or stereotypes you hear on campus. Use your own common sense to determine wish sorority is the best one for you.

Barbara is 110% right - keep an open mind and join the sorority you feel the most comfortable with. Don't ever go with (or not go with) a group just because of their image or reputation. I have some friends that did, and it made them miserable.

Good luck in rush!!!

well I am a Kappa and I have several friends in other houses especially DeeGee and we were home for the holidays talking about stereotypes on different campuses...I was asking what the stero type is on your campus...for instance...my best friend from High School is a DeeGee in Ohio and they are know as being thin, pretty and party like...all the boys like them...the Kappa's are blonde, pretty and typical sorority girls...and for instance DZ's are the lowest house yet on other campuses they are the #1 house....just think it is neat to hear how houses differ all of the world

As mentioned before, all sororities are different with each university. I can tell you though, that DG's on my campus are smart, atheletic and are huge party girls. They seem to be diverse, very popular and down to earth. The Kappa's are smart, blonde, classy, and in my mind a little reserved. They are also very popular.

On my x campus DZ's were probably the most diverse group of girls. Sigma Sigma Sigma's were usually the cheerleaders and were mostly blonds, AST's were known as kind of mean, but I didn't really see that, they were mostly brunnetts(that seems kind of funny to class people by hair, but it's true). I had a lot of AST friends, and Phi Sigma Sigma was the hippy group. They all had long stringy hair. Those were the only sororities on campus(besides prof. orgs. We had Delta Sigma Pi (co-ed) and Sigma Alpha Iota Prof. Music Frat. for Women. All in all I kind of went to a preppy school, but all the girls from diff. sororities were very nice and we didn't have differences between us. Our school was small and we often had foursome parties.(2 frats and 2 sororities)
