"I told her to make herself at home and she took a HUUUUUGE shit in my toilet!!!!!!!"

Don't say "make yourself at home" next time. LOL.

AlphaFrog, on second read, it was dumb to ask whether a Schnapps drink has liquor. LOL. Thanks for letting me have one of my dumb moments. I obviously need a pumpkin Schnapps latte.

I have some friends who say "make yourself at home" and get mad when people sit on certain chairs/use certain towels/whatever. I tell folks "stay in the living room and don't touch my shit" lol

I posted something about this in the dating and relationships thread, but I wanted to see other folks points of view on this, because I'm thinking it's just me thinking like this. Like I was saying, I'll pay for the first date, but do you think it's rude for a girl to order a lot of high end food/drinks from the menu if the dude is paying for the date? On your first date what did you spend/order? Would you date her again if she ordered high end on you? I'm just trying to see if I'm looking into this too hard.
Dude, you knew before you even arrived at the restaurant that you couldn't afford to feed another stomach. If you have to balk at the bill, then you couldn't afford it before the food was even ordered. You told her to order what she wanted, and based on what you told folks you spent, it wasn't an expensive restaurant. Probably to you it was. Dinner at an average restaurant, and a movie for two is pretty much around the price you told folks you paid. Dating is about collecting data, nothing more, nothing less, and you can do that at Wendy's. Take her somewhere YOU can afford next time.

ETA: to answer your question, what's acceptable for spending on a first date is entirely up to the person paying for the date. Whatever floats your boat (what you can afford).

Why is everything so complicated with you? Just a few weeks ago, we had to explain the concept "teams" to you. Stop the mansplaining!

You told a woman "order whatever you like," and she did. 1 + 1 = 2, not 2x+5.

Wait wait wait... Can I come to dinner? I promise to order off the middle of the menu.

Unless it's shellfish.

I have to admit, this was a very very long time ago but I distinctly remember being at one of the "best" restaurants in the Detroit area and there were two menus.. one with prices and one without. The lady received the menu without prices when accompanied by a gentleman. Does that ever still happen? Anywhere?

Not anywhere I've ever been. Like ever.

There are restaurants without prices but that is because they are high-end restaurants including higher priced a la carte items. As far as I know, it is not gendered and I hope that stupidity has disappeared completely in almost every city.

On another note, I am still amused when some servers hand the man the bill/tab. Just put the bill on the table and let the couples figure out the rest. I know it seems more "ritsy" at some establishments when the man is given the bill and the woman doesn't see the bill. We went to one such establishment and the server acted like I smacked her in the face when I put my hand out for the bill. Why does it matter to the server whether I'm paying the bill or was curious and just wanted to see the bill? If my man doesn't care (i.e. it wasn't a gift to me like a birthday dinner) then you should stop caring.
