Lxa Dailey Facts!
Well, since the old one has been lost in Cyber Space, Why not start another!
What were the colors of the TKN Badge and Pledge Pin?
Where was the Merger of TKN and LXA decided and voted on?
What parts of the LXA and TKN Pledge Pin used to make the Final LXA Associate Pin? Why was it this decision?
Why did National drop the Cresent Girl?
What is the Oldest TKN/LXA Chapter still in existence?
Well just a start, hey!

1) Dunno
2)Somewhere in Alabama? I can't remember, but hey I'll have plenty of time to read up next semester.
3)The LCA pledge pin consisted of the Lambda with Chi and Alpha forming lines inside of it. It is now the center of the badge with the 4 equalateral triangles of the TKN badge forming the back ground.
4)I've read it was because they feared that a cresent girl might sue to view the ritual becuase she was a member of the org. but I dunno. I went to the Alumni Reunion this weekend and they were stunned that we no longer had them.
5)I'd like to think it is UF but I doubt it...

The Theta Kappa Nu badge was black and gold, and the pledge pin blue and white.
The merger was in Birmingham, AL I believe.
Newer AM /Pledge pin - what Em 1843 said.
Why did Int'l ban the Crescents? Well, it happened in 1976 and I'm still fuming! Ask me again in another ten years when I've had a chance to cool down a bit. In short, I have no f**ing idea. Stoopid.
That last question is interesting. I think Tom wants us to tell him!
>Somewhere in Alabama? I can't remember, but hey I'll have plenty of time to read up next semester.
Hey EM, did you finally come across a copy of the History??? I been looking for a copy for ya. Send me an e-mail at jono41@optonline.net Be neat if you, Jeff Bliss, and I can get together in MLB in October.
Tom, thanks for carrying on the tradition. Did I get any right?

Jono, right on the Badge and Pledge Pin
Troy Right on the pledge pin
Birminham Ala is right as TKN was meeting there for their Nat. Meeting
I beleive Rose Hulman is th oldest continuning.
It was decided that LXA was a mens sociol Fraternity and the Cresent Club was dropped as it being a female group! What a reason!!
Where was TKN signed in as a National Fraternity? Or where was it decided to become a National Fraternity!
Why did LXA and TKN fit so well together for the Proposed merger?

Because LXA was at large schools and TKN at small ones.
What is the symbolism of the torns and petals on the rose in the hand of the rampant lion?
here is one that older brothers would know but even I don't know...what were the 12? ideals of LXA...since we currently only emphasize Fraternity, Patriotism, Morality, and Learning...some alumni I know remember all of them...

EX, welcome to our little Band!!!!!
I did not know that about the thorns!!!! Good Show!
TKN met in Springfeild Mo. and voted to expand as a National Fraternity!
LXA was very instrumental in helping TKN. LXA looking at Larger Schools and TKN working in the arean of smaller State schools!
As it turned out, it was a perfect mix in the Merger in 1939!
Give us a little info on you. Alum or undergrad? Chapter status and goings on there.

Let me have a crack at some of the fun stuff ...
The rose question is 11 petals and 4 stamen - the 11 petals for the 11 founding chapters and the 4 stamen for the four founding fathers of TKN (Anderson, Krenmeyer, Lybarger, and Macatee - hope spelling doesn't count).
The whistle is a challenge and response that can be found in the Ritual - What and Why. The challenge is for "Lambda Chi Alpha" and the response is for "Delta Pi." Since I can't carry a tune, I'm saved by email from having to whistle the tune.
Crescents - or Little Sisters - were ended in the mid-80's when the National Panhellenic Council applied pressure to the National (now North-American) Interfraternity Council and the member fraternities to ban Little Sister organizations. The sororities were experiencing recruitment problems they were blaming on fraternity Little Sister groups.
Magic Carpet Ride was written by John Kay who was born in East Germany and immigrated with his mother in his early teens to Toronto, Canada. As for the Lambda Chi connection ... listen to the words (or read them) and it will all make sense.
Thanks for the fun.

You guys are too much fun - you're killing me!
But here's a little-known fact: In the center triangle of the Theta Kappa Nu badge is what looks like an incomplete border, so it ends up looking like a 'seven'.
It's actually a figure representing the number 11 (for the founding chapters / locals).
So here's the question: In what language does this '7' represent the number eleven. (Please, no 7-11 jokes! Hehe.)
Welcome to the new guys. Tell us what you've been up to.
ZAX,
Jono
