We need to think of a good way to remember "if you suicide, you can't be a quota addition, but you can be a snap bid."

Me, too! I still have mine, and my anchor nametag with my name spelled out in pearls. And of course taking pictures in front of the white anchor on the lawn. Congrats to your girl!

My other rec girl had a happier ending than my first - she is a new Chi Omega, apparently her early and consistent favorite!

So do I! And I was just there over Mother's Day weekend and did you know Teresa is still the house Mom after all these years? All the girls were wonderful and so sweet to my 11 year old daughter...I was very proud to show her around and she loved it!
I keep checking FB for Bid Day pictures, but nothing so far!

We were always encouraged at U of I to turn in a snap list. Because everyone invited to pref is on your bid list somewhere, the snap list is generally made up of women invited to 2nd invitational but not pref.

Double-post, but Teresa is SO awesome. I met her on several occasions, and she was so precious!

Because I'm still not following your reasoning. I stand by my explanation that for the vast majority of chapters, there is no GPA requirement to initiate. To pledge, yes, but not to initiate.
In the scenario presented up thread, in which taking a single college level course at a community college yielded a 2.0 GPA, the pnm wouldn't even be eligible to go through recruitment at my university. That is, if the GPA was counted, and not the units.
|
Some chapters do have a GPA requirement either for the national organization or the chapter. Panhellenic might have said it was ok - that it was a single college course - but not every group would have their headquarters say it was ok to initiate her. Typical (in my neck of the woods) new member periods are maybe 8 weeks now, not the whole semester, in some cases it is as short as 2 weeks. In a competitive recruitment, it may be a risk to take a girl that you aren't sure about her grades.

Make that triple! I brought my then 15-year-old down one May after school was out and she let us in- they were having a bridal shower there that day for a sister and she was busy but took the time to make us feel welcome. She was not there when I was there (our succession of house moms was a completely different story).

Precious is the perfect word...it really was like having our Mom in the house. We exchange Christmas cards every year and I see her every Mother's Day since my Mom and I take my daughter every year. (My mom went there as well and that's what she wants every year, we even spend the night at Illini Union)
I love that someone thought about making a snap bid list, it made all the difference today.
Now if my niece would only call!

Update!
My niece is now a member of Delta Delta Delta!
Her Mom, my sister, is a Tri Delt so she finally just called me crying!
I am so happy for her and so happy for my sister who was trying to play it cool about the whole legacy thing.
Now that it is a reality...she is just a hot mess of happiness!
My niece's friend is now a proud member of Kappa Delta and thrilled as that was her favorite house for a long time.
She loves them and went on and on about how magical her pref night was and that she's hoping the girl who preffed her is her big sister.
I'm waiting for the info on my rec girls, but I know they did head over for bid day,
I'm just not sure what choice (1,2,3) they got so I'm waiting.
So happy and so excited to hear about everyone!
I'm so excited, if I didn't keep catching my reflection in the mirror, I would think I was 18 and opening my bid right now!
