Junior Year

I also have some concerns with being a junior and rushing. I did not rush my freshman year but my sophomore year. I did not go all the way through with rush and walked away before pref night. I only had two choices that were my bottom two houses. I really want to rush this year again and I am hoping of getting a letter of recommendation from the houses I want to be part of. Do you think I still I have a chance? Thanks for all the help! I appreciate it.

First off, you don't get a rec letter from the chapters, you get it from alumnae. Have you contacted alumnae of ALL the sororities on your campus? You need to have rec letters from everyone, not just your "favorites."

Have you improved your grades, extracurriculars and appearance to the point that the "chapters you want to be part of" will want YOU to be part of THEM? Enough to override the fact that you're rushing as a junior?

The fact that you DID have groups left and didn't give them a chance on pref night is not a good thing. You will be remembered for this and not in a good way - by the groups whose invitations you ignored, and by the other chapters (who might have friends in those "bottom two" of yours).

Try again if you really want, but there's a very good chance that you won't get very far, even with recs.

Sorry I meant letter of recommendations from alumni. Why do you need a letter of recommendation from all sororities alums, if you only want to be part a select few? My GPA has maintained which is 3.8 and I give tours and do research. But my resume hasn't really changed that much. What do you suggest?

Those "select few" may not want to bid you, rec or not. Get recs for ALL the sororities.

You need to seriously open up your mind if you want to be a part of the Greek system at your school.

If nothing has changed over the past year, why would a sorority that didn't invite you back last year want to invite you back this year? Nothing has changed, other than you are a year older, which is yet another strike against you. I am sorry, but be prepared to not have much luck.
