Trying to decide right now. I love books, but I seriously hate to carry them around.
Amazon has the "sponsored screen savers" Kindles for $114, but I think that would drive me insane.

Overstock has refurbished nooks for $79.99 which seems like a good deal and the reviews are all positive even though it's refurbished, but I haven't finished reading details for the warranties or whatever.

FWIW, I've had a Kindle (first gen) and a nook (first gen and second gen) and I loooooove nooks. Kindles are nice, but I much prefer the Nook operating system (idk if that is the right terminology). My only problem with the nook is that Barnes and Noble is still expanding the nook library, so you sometimes find a book you want but it's not available on nook. I can't speak for the Kindle because I didn't have it for all that long.

^^ on the plus side if you find the ebook elsewhere, you can load it onto the Nook.

Calibre is awesome for organizing non-Nookbook ebooks.

Thanks for you help! I'm leaning towards the Nook.
I just want the classic one, I just want it to read on, so I'm not all that concerned about the whether or not I get the Nook Color.

Wish I knew if the $79.99 is a steady price on Overstock for the refurbished or if I should just buy it today while it's low.
I have been trying to search, and have some feedback that it's *may* sometimes be $119...which at that point, why not just get the new one?

The original nook is still really nice- I got it right after it came out and the touch screen was really finnicky, but their customer service was excellent. They replaced it twice, no hassle no questions asked. If no frills is what you want, it's the one for you. You can still put some music on it, and there's sudoku (which I love) and chess (which I could live without). The internet function leaves something to be desired, but the wifi connection for downloading books is just fine.

^^^

actually no... or should i say, not yet.

it's just a screen saver, but if you click it/ activate it then it will take you to the details of the advertisement.

i normally turn my kindle all the way off, so i don't see them anyway.

So what exactly does running Android OS mean for the Nook Color?
Like it would run regular Android apps?

One thing I would be super interested in with getting an e-Reader is the ability to use it with Evernote, which I use regularly on my computer/iPhone.
That way, I could (potentially?) put my notes from school on there without converting to pdf?

Ah I'm so torn right now still. First I was thinking Nook, then dead set on Kindle until I realized that with the Nook I could borrow from libraries...though I've read that Kindle is looking into adding this as an upgrade in the future but who knows how long that will be.

I do A LOT of research before I purchase electronics so I guess it's gonna be a bit of time, so I guess I'm not close to a decision... but I'd just like one before I leave for the summer (running out of time though)

Just got the Nook OS upgrade. LOOOOOVEEEE.

However, the ability to add apps is not going to be good for my productivity.
