TKE legacy on Grand Council
While it is true that Don Fisher's son John became Grand Prytanis
(National President), too, Elmer Kaser, charter member of Epsilon,
Iowa State, was on the Grand Council briefly 1917-19 and as we
all know, his son Don became GP in the 60s. Chuck Bishop, a first
cousin to Frank Bishop Scott, was also a GC'er.
Bill Wilson's middle name was indeed Salter, but HQ seems to forget this each time they publish. Tex Flint also carried his mother's maiden name as a middle, Pierce.
New trivia question....what charter member of Gamma, also a Grand Council member, was the son of a Phi Delt from Illinois
Epsilon chapter at Wesleyan?
Lambda Chi pal...you are good at all this....perhaps you can be in
the hogger hate circle like Tommy and me! Maybe if we get enuf
guys on the lizards' list we can have Miss Emily create a correct
escutcheon for us! (Tom..escutcheon=crest, kinda)

Phi Delt & Teke trivia
Milton Allen Connard of nearby Elwin, IL, close to Decatur, was
a member of Illinois Epsilon chapter of Phi Delta Theta at Illinois
Wesleyan. He lived from 1858 to 1946, dying in Decatur. He was
the father of Arthur Foster Connard (1886-1984), a charter member of Gamma of TKE and Past Grand Pylortes. Art, who is no
kin of mine, and I corresponded 'til his death. He was president of the Great Books of Cleveland, a well-traveled man, had no issue, was a telegrapher and had the most beautiful handwriting
I ever saw. When I asked frater Connard what it was like being
Grand Pylortes in 1913, he said he would eat an apple, stand outside the door and stop any barb or infidel from entering.
A charming, highly intelligent, loveable man...he had a goodly number of kin who joined TKE, mostly Beta and Gamma chapters.
He was still traveling the world until he was 98 years old.

one more thing---
As I sit here, unable to sleep, I would like to encourage all of you,
all fraternity men, who have an interest in your history and who
like me, strive to keep tabs on the trivia...
REMEMBER, our creative minds, our embellishing of memory, our
recall of those who've gone before us...
ALL can be kept alive by your repetition to the youngins' about our beginnings. Inculcating, preserving those halcyon days...
Greeks, smokers and drinkers are interesting people. The greeks
leave us no less-well and are, in heart, all loveable folks.
When my generation is gone, just like the ones before me, recall
some of those tales...fielders have a lot of them, and the Knights
of Apollo is the perfect carrier, to behold those days of yesterday
when out of the blue came Buckwheat, Melchert, Logan or Hall each riding a stallion on a dirty white sheet...oh, well, you know what I mean.
Carry on, do.

Excuss Me for butting in, but the Wise Words of a Sage should be heeded.
History soon seems to be lost on the Young.
Todays information is yesterdays History. I read with some saddness about YesterYears TKE Fraters not keeping better records. TKE is not alone beleive me.
As Erik knows some of My Fellow Brothers of LXA have been trying to find where Our Main Founder is Buried abut as yet no luck. It is History that should never be lost.
Keep records as they will be important someday to You and You dont know it now. I found out the hard way Myself as Erik knows My background.
Yours Interfraternaly,

for this being a sorta old thread, and cause im bored ill share some stuff i recently found out. No clue if anyone had posted this yet, cause theres like 40+ posts on this thread so here it is:
During the Red Scare that happened in the U.S., the U.S. Govt. had feared that communist ideas and beliefs could be the foundation for a fraternity to build on. On that note, the govt. had sent out a message to every NonPanehilic fraternity and every Panahilic Fraternity (i suck at spelling) to turn in their ritual book in order for the Govt. to know if they actually had communist beliefs, the fraternities asked were those founded before/during the red scare. Every fraternity ritual is now located in the Library of Congress all one must do is ask for it, EXCEPT for TWO Fraternities.
1. as you may guess is ours, TKE's ritual book was taken out by Ronald Reagon during his administration.
2. Sigma Chi (i've heard) was taken out also by Glover Cleveland during his administration.
So..Not only do schools usually not like fraternities, neither did the govt. at one point.

Trivia?
We (BX chapter) were recently refounded. You may or may not know this (and please don't let me be wrong) but a grand officer must be present for the refounding ceremony. For our ceremony we had Grand Hegemon Talbot presiding...who just so happens to be a BX alumni. So now for the trivia part...
Has any other chapter had the grand officer be an alumni from that chapter preside the rechartering ceremony?
P.S.
1. I don't know the answer so don't bother guessing.
2. It's like 7am for me and I have been up all night writing a paper so if I have spelling/grammer issues or if I'm not making sense I apologise.

grand officer / reinstaller
I am sure some Grand Officers have been the chief at a revival and I know several grand officers have presided at reactivation
ceremonies at chapters they origianall installed.
I would hope Mark Johnson would do his, Nu Theta, at U of Utah,
and it would be quite fitting.

in the whole scheme of things...
Is the ritual book that sacred? Some catholics and snake handling
Baptists from time to time get their panties all in a wad over the
secrets of FreeMasonry.
Golly, I do not consider myself an all-seeing, all-knowing, pan sophic organization man, but gimme a coupla days and I can put
my hot little fist on virtually any ritual book of any fraternal order.
Wake me up by the third page, if'n you will....LOL
Really...it is in our hearts, not in the esoteric tomes.
Go revive a chapter, take a shower, get laid, but don't get all bent
out of shape on this. Even old timer TKEs did not gush all over and piss up a rope about these things.

If there is any truth to this then our president, Bushie, would probably have removed whatever was in there about Skull and Bones too.

Alpha-Chi at the U of L was the last chapter chartered before things were put on hold due to the war for about 4 years. One of their charter members had the horseshoe. It was eventually found among some of his belongings in 1995.
