Another cause of retreat from GC: Prunetacos.

Really?

Didn't a good number of years pass between his stuff and the time we actually realized who it was? I don't think he drove any more people from GC than say, Tom Earp did.

I mean once we found out who Prunetacos was (and it was only a year or so between his posts and when his identity was uncovered). A few regulars left shortly after that. It freaked people out too much.

Are you sure? I thought it was about 2 years--not a super long time, as in he was gushing about KKG at the same time he was sending anthrax, but long enough that he wasn't a memorable character like Earp or Hoosier.

If anything, Hoosier creeped me out more than prunetacos.

Don't smile at me. That's soooo condescending. You may not want me here but the other posters obviously love my presence. Take dat, take dat!

It freaked people out that the Anthrax Killer had been conversing with the regs on GC, especially given his history of online stalking, apparently. I think it was too much scary reality for a few people, a reminder that you never know who could be lurking behind a screenname. His topics of conversation were more annoying than scary, but it was creepy to have interacted with him at all. Throw in the whole "FBI is watching us and could be investigating all of us omgwtfbbq" and I know it was enough to turn away some people. I know this because I exchanged PMs with a few people during that time, and they left the site shortly thereafter.

ETA: I don't remember Hoosier. Annoying, or creepy?

Creepy. He made it a point to only really post links to hazing allegations/stories on GC (sound familiar?) and it pissed a lot of the members off. A lot of people back then felt that we as greeks shouldn't air our dirty laundry so candidly or zealously. He also created some socks, most notibly Zippy Zamboni who would post homoerotic hazing stories

ETA- Hoosier ended up leaving after he was outed as being the one who posted all of the homoerotic hazing stories AND after a profile of his was seen on a M4M sex site.

Now tell me more about the Anthrax poster bc I don't remember that at all. It must have happened during one of my GC breaks.

Prunetacos=Anthrax Killer. Do a search and you'll see the obsession. He also used to troll various sorority Wikipedia pages and edit them.

Be careful. Say his name one more time and he might appear...

Whoa!!! I didn't know that part. I now understand what some people were delicately not saying at the time though.

I think most people just lurk nowadays. I don't know if you ever happen to look at the "Look who visited in the last 24 hour" stats but there are usually a good number of us old timers on there. I personally refrain from posting on a lot of todays Fraternity issues because of the fact that I rushed over a DECADE ago and I don't feel like I can give any sort of relevant advice to a new rushee or current active.

Damn I feel old.

I've actually thought about that and, as sad as I am about my decreased income, I'm excited for more GC during the day starting this fall semester!

I was seriously going to ask you if you really knew she was a witch and, if there were doubts, do you have a duck handy. But you seem to have things under control here.

I thought we were calling him raisinburrito to ease the shock value! Or did that not catch on?
