Smile Fraternity Textbook Rentals

Much to my joy, Sig Ep now has its own textbook rental service. My son was looking for a huge geography book that normally costs $150+ but he couldn't find it at the usual textbook rental places. Then he saw the link on his fraternity website and YAY, he's saving well over $100 by renting it from them!

I hope that lots of GLOs are doing this. College books are a ripoff and I say this as both a professor and a parent of 8 college students in the last 10 years. And they always have been; you know how you buy a book now for $100 and they give you back $10 or refuse to buy it because there's yet another new edition? That went on 40 years ago.

This could be a great fund raiser for a lot of groups!

Do you have to be a member of the fraternity to rent, or can anyone rent the books?

I don't know--every time I log in, his information comes up but if you go to www.sigep.org, there's a button on the top of the page. I can't see where he's put in his chapter or his membership number, so maybe!

I went through most of the check out procedure and it seems like anyone can rent the books. You just have to set up an account.
