According to carnation, the majority of these types of pageant kids don't even go to college. LOL.

Too true. I mean, look at their parents. And can you imagine what would happen if Makenzie went through rush someday and acted entitled? Who would even give her recs anyway? The good kind, that is.

Didn't know that they did not go to college. I wonder why not?
Oh and can you imagine Danielle going through Recruitment? Only to not get a top house? But, a lesser second tier chapter, bottom tier chapter or no chapter at all? Perish the thought! Especially, when she considers herself to be prettier than the other girls and feels sorry for them. I would love to see that crying fit when that happens. Looking forward to that reality television show.
Seriously, I can not believe that these parents allow their kids to be filmed like this. I would never want to my kid to shown like the screaming brats these kids are. I would be bloody ashamed of them and me as a parent. And that these parents just let it happen and dismiss it on television is beyond me. Five minutes of so-called-fame is not worth the stupidity of their actions or lack of.

The mother is responsible. 100%. She doesn't have the brains to come in out of the rain and I honestly believe she thinks she gave birth to a toy instead of a person.
Is it too late to give HER a spanking?

Ava's dad registers very high on my gaydar.
Who do they call the talent portion talent? Dressing up like Lady Gaga/Madonna/etc. is not a talent. Ballet? Jazz Flute? Those are talents. And what's the point of having 2-3 year olds in the "talent" portion anyway? They aren't really doing anything. I've seen a FEW kids on this show with actual talents (older kids), but most of them are just wearing costumes and acting "cute."
I'd be a little upset if I did something awesome for talent and lost to a 2 year old in a cone bra.
Also, what good is winning $1,000, when you spent more than that just to participate?
And I can't help but LOL when parents say "this is just a stepping stone for Miss America/USA." Nope.

$600 Dress!!!
$600 for Mia's dress!!! Holy shit! I don't even spend that much on my formals. The kid will wear it once or twice. Maybe more if they are really into the whole pageant tour thing. But that is just so much for such a little girl! That money could go for so many more things.
Some of these Texas towns are so small. I guess that they do not have much to do than practice for pageants. I know Jarrell, Texas is small. They were nearly wiped off the map five years ago after a tornado hit.
Wonder if there is a second hand shop for pageant dresses? Then again, that would be a major faux pas.
Yes, Ava's dad is on my gaydar.
Loved the term "Pageant Cocaine" for Pixie Sticks.

There are. Some parents sell their kid's used dresses online and in consignment stores when it's time for a new dress. From what I know (I babysat for a lady who's kid did these for awhile), it's pretty common to buy used online (they're not even really used because most girls only wear them once.)

I've seen that kid Mia on a different episode with the same Madonna getup. It offended me as much this time around as last. Call me a prude, but I thought it was nasty.

I've never had anything to do with pageants, but I know that in Irish dance, most dresses are second hand, until you get to about prelim champion. I paid $2500 for my dress + shipping from Ireland, so I made sure I took more care of that thing than I did myself. I wore my dress for the minimum amount of time I had to at a feis, kept it in the double layer protective case at home, and made sure it was always safe. While it might be so extreme, I'm guessing it's a similar situation in pageant dresses. Once you retire from Irish dance, or you want a new dress, you sell the old one to pay for the new one. It's pretty common to see ID dresses that were owned for 2+ years, but only worn 4-7 times.

Somebody should probably tell Sammi Jo's mom (the woman who says she only wanted a daughter for the purpose of grooming her to be Miss America), that most Miss America contestants aren't the "I've been doing pageants since I ws born" type. lol.
