‘Ground Zero Mosque’ opponents launch boycott of pop star Justin Bieber
Quote:
Andy Sullivan, a construction worker and outspoken critic of the mosque, says he organized the boycott because of Bieber’s supposed pro-mosque remarks in an issue of Tiger Beat magazine. Sullivan added that his children would no longer be attending any of the Canadian singer’s concerts.

One problem
Quote:
CelebJihad.com calls itself a “satirical website” and says the whole thing is a hoax. Administrators on the boycott’s Facebook page admitted Thursday afternoon that they are now awaiting conformation from Tiger Beat on whether or not Bieber’s pro-Mosque interview actually took place, but denied the information came from CelebJihad.

I remember that magazine from the 5th grade or so. My sister & I loved it because it almost always had one of the New Kids on the Block members on the front cover or Kirk Cameron.

Yes it is. That makes me very happy. Although I think they're probably a little more honest than Tiger Beat was in my day (case in point: never knowing Andy Gibb was MARRIED during his big fame till the Behind the Music on him, circa 2000).

I KNOW!!! Sorry I started out your new year with this news. I didn't think I could feel disillusioned by celebrities any more but I sure did when I heard that.

LMAO I had no idea about this either.
I didn't read Tiger Beat though. I read Word Up, and on occasion, Bop.
Just googled it.... Tiger Beat and Bop are published by the same people.

Sen, did they still have Right On! when you were that age? Or did it vanish along with Michael Jackson's original nose?

Oh yeah! I forgot about Right On! and Black Beat. Word Up seemed to be less girly, though.

Oooo I loved Tiger Beat around 4th grade. I remember when Teen People came out and my mom deemed it too racy for me...but she would buy Tiger Beat to appease me.

I thought Tiger Beat, etc focused on hard-hitting topics like "What's your favorite color" and "OMG Do you like Miley Cyrus"
Why are they talking about the mosque?

I think I was into J-14 & Tiger Beat strictly for the mini posters. I had a wall of Backstreet Boys and then a wall for everyone else.
Girls Life was the magazine I would actually read. Gotta love those quizzes!

As if someone needs a reason to boycott Justin Bieber.
Unless it's the Amalgamated Association of Barbershops.
