So, new Christmas dilemma - nut this one should be easy for someone relatively creative...husband always says he doesn't want anything for Christmas, and the thing is, he truly doesn't. So, I decided that for Christmas, I would take an extra day off work and take the whole family to the children's museum near our house. My husband and I, because of our work schedules, literally only have two days off a year together: Thanksgiving and Christmas. So rather thn anything materal, I think he would appreciate the time together more than anything. So, the dilemma is, how the heck do you (representatively) wrap that?

Make a "Day off and let's spend some time together" coupon!
And put it into a nice Christmas Card

You could buy a small photo album and for the picture in the front you could put one of the family (from whatever event, just for the original giving of the gift), and write on it "Christmas 2010: A Day at the Museum" or something like that. Then you can explain that you're all going to go to the museum.. or, if you can buy the tickets in advance, you can give him those, as well.
Then you can fill the album with all of the pictures you take!

I want to put together a small grilling basket/kit (probably in a cooler?) for boyfriends dad. He likes to cook.
I found the "A man, a can, a grill" cookbook fairly cheap, I need ideas for what else to put together (cheaply!) in the "basket"
I just need some ideas, because obviously he has things like spatulas, etc.
Bamboo skewers maybe? Spices or something? HELP!

Wood planks, or wood chips if he has a charcoal grill.

Molasses or spicy sauce (nothing to plain) and grilling herbs or marinade.

Thanks guys! I was thinking along the marinade & herbs line. Molasses is a good one too!
I just wasn't totally sure what all is appropriate since he does already own things obviously. I picked up a skewers & a new set of tongs (at bfs request, says his dad is always misplacing his somehow) and I will probably pick up some marinades tomorrow when I go shopping.

Okay, brother-in-law's new girlfriend. We're celebrating with my in-laws over new years and we've been informed that she'll be joining us. I have no idea what to get her. She's 18 and waiting tables with no intentions of going to college (my MIL said "she seems (pause) fun..."). Apparently my 24 year old brother-in-law met her at a bar a few months ago .
Any ideas?

Charming Charlies has cashmere scarfs for $20. Any woman that wouldn't want a cashmere scarf is really not a woman. If you don't want to spend that much, they have Pashmina's for $10.

Forever 21 gift card? Scarf/jewelry from there? That's personal while still being slightly impersonal.

I like the jewelry from forever21 idea. Depending on her age.
If she's out of her teens/early 20s then I'd go with bath and body works lotions or something
