Personally I like the fun colors and I bet your quilts look fantastic!
I was afraid this quilt was going to be too drab and masculine so I made sure the sashing fabric was somewhat feminine. It is black with lots of old gold, but it also has mauve and a greyish blue (sort of Pi Phi colors)and the design is a stylized floral. When I have to size up a block from either a mini-design (Blocks 2 and 4 of Row 2) or a children's shirt, I make the borders are from a different shirt that is already in the quilt. The yellow border on the black mini-design is from the extra fabric from the Rally Rag (bottom row center). The gold that borders the white mini-design is from the neckerchief (center row center). The Greek Letter PBP block was created from the back of one of the WF Alumni grey t-shirt and the Screamin' Demon Spirit shirt. The WF block was made from the lounge pants and the back of one of the white t-shirts. I was able to retain the pocket in the hoodie block and the drawstring and buttons on the lounge pants block.
