Reminds me of something I heard on the radio yesterday. Wife surprised hubby with tickets to the ballet for his birthday. (Whie he left "at half time to go listen to the baseball game in the parking lot")

Anyway, he staid that they needed to get taller dancers so the guys didn't have to stand on their toes.

Good luck and have fun!

DAY ONE: OPEN HOUSE!

So recruitment began quite recently! I was so excited standing outside the first house, but it was SO nerve wracking! I wasn't prepared for how loud it was and the chants, but it was so awesome to see how excited all of the chapters were about their sorority! As the day went on it got easier and easier to talk to the girls, and it was so hard to rank because I liked A LOT of them! Anyways...on with the show! (These are in alphabetical order)

ARABESQUE- These girls were very nice and welcoming, but I didn't really feel a connection with them. I talked to two girls who were both really sweet and excited about being an Arabesque, but one had very bad breath...which turned me off even more. I just didn't really feel like I belonged there, but I still had fun!

BALLET-This was a HUGE chapter. There were so many girls in the house, and it was SO HOT. I talked to one girl during the whole party, and she was nice. However, all she really seemed to love about her sorority was the mixers, and I want to be much more involved in not only the social aspect but the philanthropy and sisterhood. I still want to give this one another chance, though!

COSTUME-I really liked these girls! I talked to three or four and every single one was so sweet, and all seemed really interested in what I was saying! I also really love this organizations philanthropy, and they seemed to be really involved and really passionate about it!

JAZZ-This party went okay. I talked to one girl who was rushing girls for the very first time, and so she was kind of nervous...there were a lot of awkward pauses in our conversation and we both dug for things to talk about. I did not necessarily dislike this house, I just didn't really feel a connection with it.

JETE-These girls were really nice! I talked to one girl and was bumped to about 2 or 3 others. They had really nice display tables in the house for different aspects of their sorority. The conversation flowed naturally, and I even met a girl in my major. I still felt not so right with this one, and I don't really know why.

PIROUETTE-This was the first party of the day so I was REALLY nervous! However I shouldn't have been...these girls were all so nice! I talked to three different people and I loved all of them. They were all interesting and seemed interested! A few sisters gave a speech at the end of the party, and the other girls were tearing up, it was sooo sweet. When I was walked out, a sister told me she hoped to see me again!

POINTE-This house was...not for me. At all. From the moment I walked in I felt completely out of place. I dug for questions and conversation, but it was the last house of the day and my least favorite, so I had a hard time keeping the talking going! I did not like this house at all.

TAP-This house was one of my FAVORITES. The girl that rushed me was SO sweet and all of the girls were VERY excited. They had so many displays and pictures, and my rusher answered all of my questions and was really interested in what I had to say! She had even taken dance earlier in her life This was a fun party and a great group of girls!

TUTU-I liked this house, but I couldn't really see myself there. The girl that rushed me was really nice and she was REALLY funny, but I just didn't feel like I belonged there. They made me feel totally welcome though and I had fun!

And so, at the end of that day, we had to choose 6 and drop 3. My list ran as follows:
(Alphabetical Order)

KEEP:
Ballet
Costume
Jazz
Pirouette
Tap
Tutu

DROP:
Arabesque
Jete
Pointe

I'm kinda bummed about pointe too. It's so beautiful and such a rewarding form of dance.
But I am excited for tap!

DAY TWO: PHILANTHROPY!

So I got up bright and early the next day to go to the philanthropy round! We could get invited back to a max of 6 chapters. I got:

Arabesque
Ballet
Jazz
Jete
Pirouette
Tap

I was cut by:
Costume
Pointe
Tutu

I wasn't too excited to see Jete or Arabesque back, but that's ok! I knew my opinion about them could change. I was kind of glad I didn't get to go back to Tutu, the more I thought about it, the more I didn't really like them. So, I headed to my first party!

Arabesque- This party was okay. Once again, I just didn't really feel like I really fit with these girls. We did a cute craft and I talked to about three girls, but I just don't really feel like I could see myself there. I felt bad because they were all super nice haha!

Ballet- At Open House, I was a little iffy about this one because I had talked to just one girl and we didn't really click. But today...I LOVED this house! The philanthropy REALLY hit home for me and it was something I could get involved with. The girls I talked to were SO nice, and the craft was cute! Love, love, love!

Jazz-I had fun at this party! I thought the craft was sooo sweet. The girls were all nice and we had great conversations, but I just didn't feel a connection. I couldn't see myself in this house at all.

Jete-I was pleasantly surprised with this house! I didn't really like it at open house, but this day changed my opinion! Every girl I talked to seemed really genuine, and I loved their charities! I definitely knew I wouldn't be dropping them this time around!

Pirouette-I really liked this house! We walked in and my girl led me to sit down at a table and I did a craft. We ended up mutually knowing a girl from my hometown, it was so weird! I had great conversation.

Tap-I was shocked at this party. I did nottt like this house as much as I did on day one. Every girl seemed to look exactly the same as I looked around the room, and even though they were all really nice it seemed a bit feigned. I still had fun and I loved the craft, but I did not see myself going back.

At the end of the day, we had to rank four and drop two. I kept:
Ballet
Jete
Pirouette
Tap

And dropped:
Arabesque
Jazz

DAY THREE: SISTERHOOD!

So day three has come and gone, and even though it's sooo much fun, its sooooo exhausting. I think I'm more tired from recruitment than classes! Anyways...

So day three, I showed up to get my invites from my pi chi. I wasn't really expecting much at all, because I had heard they were making huge cuts after day two. We could get invited back to up to four, but I wasn't holding my breath. I got my invites and it read:

Ballet
Jete
Pirouette
Arabesque

I was glad that jazz and tap dropped me, because I didn't really like them...but I wasn't too thrilled to see Arabesque on there AGAIN. Off I went to my parties!

Arabesque-I disliked this house more than I had before. We watched a slideshow on their sisterhood and that was all fine and dandy, but when it came to talking to the girls it was downright awkward. I felt bad because they were all really reallyyyy nice, but I felt so extremely unconnected to them that I had no idea why they kept inviting me back.

Ballet-I liked ballet today a lot! I felt like I fit in with the girls and their slideshow of their pictures was so cute! However the girl that rushed me did nottt click with me, and then when another Ballet came up they started having their own conversation and I was just kind of standing and listening. I really liked them on the previous days, and I know I can't judge them on just one girl, so I still like them but I was just a tinyyyy bit dissapointed.

Jete-Today it was two PNMs to one sister here. It was a lot of fun, and every girl we talked to was nice and welcoming. I liked their slideshow, and I could see myself with them but there was something about them that I still wasn't sure about. I feel like they will cut me.

Pirouette-I really liked this house once again! They are fairly new to campus, and I can't figure out if this is good, bad, or neither? The girls are all so different and diverse, and they all cried during their slideshow which I thought was awesome how connected they were even though they were new!

At the end of the day, I ranked:

Ballet
Pirouette

And dropped:
Jete
Arabesque

I really would be happy with any combination of the first three. I have no idea at this point and I hope pref will help me decide! I'm soososo confused!!!!

Wishing you well, and while you are confused I know that you will find what is right for you! Usually either of your pref houses will make a good home.

Sounds like you have a good set to choose from! There's always upsides and downsides to each group, but it seems like within each you can definitely find a place to belong. Still rooting for Pirouette, but I'm sure pref will help your decision greatly. Best of luck!

I'm so ready for pref! The suspense of who I'm going back to is killing me, and I'm just ready to see a little more of the houses, so I can set my decisions in stone! Ahhhhhh!
