It's the chapter where "every single sister was drop dead STUNNING and very well put-together," and "literally something out of Elle Magazine." It's "considered top tier" where she "could fit in best"; in fact, it's the one where she knew she could thrive when she "looked around at their house at the other perfect girls."

Personally, I'd almost rather that she not tell us which chapter it is. Her "brutal honesty" about them isn't particularly flattering, though I doubt that the chapter deserves it. I'd rather not see them embarrassed here.

There's a phrase that people use regarding wealth/beauty/popularity that escapes me right now. It goes something like, if you really have "it", you don't need to talk about it.

If this is true, that the OP preferred one sorority over most because of the way the girls looked at the parties, she's in for a shock. Relationships based on superficial things don't go anywhere. According to her story, she made choices based on something that is skin-deep.

The models in Elle and other fashion magazines spend hours in a makeup chair getting their faces spackled and their hair tortured and teased. It takes a team of professionals hours to make the already beautiful/thin/striking girls into the glamour dolls you see in advertisements.

I'd laugh if half the girls weren't as "put together" most days as they were in recruitment (there are people that keep that up, but the likelihood that 200 of them are in any one organization). They, too, were putting on appearances. But what about the other 51 weeks a year? What if someone had a nasty acne outbreak? Would the OP avoid being seen with her? Or if one of the girl's parents lost a high-paying job and couldn't get her mani/pedi/facial/massage/tanning every week or had to stop buying designer clothes?

Lastly, I looked at some of the pictures of the new Auburn pledge classes, and visited a bunch of the chapter websites. While every one had a lot of pretty girls, none of them were full of "model-types" or full of "frumpy" girls.

^^^You are so silly. If mom or dad lost their high paying job THESE girls would simply walk downtown and find a modeling/theatrical agency. And then, like a flash in the pan they would be discovered and be on the cover of Vogue in two months.

...all while staying in school and dating the BEST guy(s) from the best Fraternity.

Gosh, what do we have to do to tell you about the real world?

ellebud, you crack me up. I like it enough to consider updating my signature with an ellebud quote, since Barbie's_Rush is too busy with wedding plans.

I'm still thinking about the fried cookies. Mmmm, fried cookies. (Actually, there is a type of Welsh cookie with raisins that's cooked on a griddle.)

Oh hun, don't you know that she has a trust fund from her grandmama and granddaddy? She's modeling because she was discovered in her favorite little exclusive shop by a world famous fashion photographer who just happened to be in town. She learned early how to balance her hectic social/academic/panhellenic schedule and decided what the heck? I have time for a little trip to Paris for the shows!
