Project Runway - Season 8
Apparently Season 8 starts tonight on Lifetime (fiance is the one that let me know, wtf?).
This season's episodes are 90 minutes long, and it appears they've dropped the 30 minute show about the models. However, some show called "On the Road with Austin and Santino" is premiering tonight in it's place.
I'm just hoping to be a little more wowed this time around.

I will be watching it. I wasn't going to but then I saw the dramatic commercial/preview. The episode better be as dramatic.

I love the longer episodes now.

Me too. I thought it would drag, but it went by just as quickly!

I thought they were going to send the final 3 home. I guess it's good that the mother of the 9 month old got sent home.

I didn't think her dress was THAT terrible. I thought the guy who had his $2,000 D&G pants shredded should have gone home. I really don't know what his design was.

I think Casanova got saved because of his trainwreck potential. WTF was that rag that he made last night?

^^^Ditto. The trainwreck always makes it past the first episode. Even so, I would have sent Ivy home before dreadlock girl. Those pants were pretty terrible.

Haha I thought they'd save like maybe 2-3 people and then the rest would go home. I have to admit, I was kind of disappointed when only one person went home. I say them out now so we have an actually interesting season. Other than that, just can't wait for the new episodes. Oh and I LOVE having Santino back on TV. I may have a bit of a crush on him.

I missed the show so I had to download it from iTunes. Glad it's back on but I wasn't wowed by any of the first designs. I can't find the show with Santino. I guess I'll try to catch it next week.

A comment and a couple of questions
Having only seen the last two sets of "Runway," I could be wrong but I think Ms. Klum and company is more concerned about television viewership than any fashion talent.
I have seen a lot worse than what the young woman who was dismissed created. I would bet that her story line is weaker than either Ivy's or Casanova's, both of whom seem to be "drama queens" of the highest level. I suspect both will be around for a few episodes to create "artistic tension" before getting eliminated.
I also though Ms. Klum was a bit testy when eliminating the young woman. Usually Heidi is nicer and shows bit a of compassion (rare for a reality show).
A couple of questions: is Michael Kors really a major designer? I have heard of Ralph Lauren and Liz Claiborne, but until "Runway," I never heard of Kors.
Is Marie Claire a major fashion magazine? I know of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, I even know Women's Wear Daily. I thought of Marie Claire as just another women's magazine on the shelf at Border's or Barnes and Noble's.

I would say Kors is a major fashion designer, but that's just me. I love his shoes and purses, and some of his clothing, but not all.
As for Marie Claire, I would also say major, moreso IMO than Women's Wear Daily...that's not one I've ever picked up.

Michael Kors is certainly a major designer. Marie Claire is a middle level magazine, but Nina Garcia moved to that magazine just a few seasons ago. She originally worked for Elle. I think Marie Claire is hoping that she can bring them up to Elle's level.
I agree that McKell was a victim of her boring personality rather than her garment. Cassanova and Ivy lived to see another challenge because they'll create drama, not because they have any talent.
